The purpose of this role is to lead a team of modelling and data science partners, ensuring the scientific integrity of work products in assigned business areas. This involves providing technical expertise on study design, research methodology, and statistical approaches while driving the adoption of scientific principles to enhance business processes and decisions. Additionally, the role involves taking ownership of technical delivery for complex projects, collaborating with peers, and communicating results and recommendations to business stakeholders in actionable timeframes.

The opportunity:

• Lead the development of analytical use cases with internal business customers in alignment with Analytics leads and partners.
• Drive modernisation of analytical techniques within the organisation.
• Identify new high-value problems and prototype solutions that demonstrate tangible business value.
• Translate between business and analytical problems.
• Source, integrate, explore and examine data from multiple sources; discover, analyse and summarise relationships, trends and insights; derive, validate and interpret models and the results of data experiments; and connect these analytic results to business decisions and actions.

About you:

• Significant data management experience within the financial services sector, preferably in general insurance.
• Track record of implementing impactful models that drive sustained business results.
• Experience in Big Data Technology including Hadoop, NoSQL DB, Spark, and Parquet.
• Ability to derive meaningful insights from large structured and unstructured datasets.
• Proficiency in analytics using tools like R, Python, and Spark.
• Collaborative experience in programming projects and project architecture management.
• Familiarity with working in a Linux environment.
• Skill in presenting complex analytics solutions to diverse audiences.
• Proven track record of delivering successful projects in an agile work setting.
• Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
