Benchling Engineer

Manifold Bio is a dynamic biotech company building a pipeline of  targeted biologics using a novel in vivo-centric discovery approach. Our drug discovery engine is differentiated by massively parallel screening in vivo from the beginning of our discovery process. This unique platform is powered by a proprietary protein barcoding technology that allows multiplexed protein quantitation at unprecedented scale and sensitivity. We combine this and other high-throughput protein engineering approaches with computational design to create antibody-like drugs and other biologics. Our world-class team of protein engineers, biologists, and computational scientists are working together to aim the platform at therapeutic opportunities where precise targeting is the key to overcoming clinical challenges.

Position

We are seeking a skilled Benchling Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing and configuring Benchling's Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) platform to support our research activities. The candidate should have a strong background in software development and a deep understanding of scientific workflows in Discovery Research. 

Manifold Bio maintains a rich Data Model leveraging Benchling schemas to describe complex multiplex experiments that we perform as part of our in vivo screening platform. This role will specifically be responsible for maintaining, evolving and building software solutions around this configuration. This role will be very hands-on and directly engaged with wet lab researchers, onboarding new data streams and maintaining data connections from lab devices (via Benchling Connect). This role will support Benchling Inventory build out, closely working with our Automation Team.  This role will also explore solutions to help visualize and navigate the rich Benchling project data in custom solutions. Experience with the Benchling API/sdk is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve Manifold’s Benchling, Benchling Vivo, and Benchling Connect configurations
• Implement software solutions to integrate Benchling LIMs data with analysis workflows
• Build out Benchling Inventory solutions with Automation Team
• Work closely with Scientists to identify and onboard new data streams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant programming experience (including Python)
• Direct experience with Benchling and Benchling solutions
• Demonstrated and proven experience modeling and building data solutions (e.g. Postgresql)
• Strong python programming skills
• Cloud computing experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Experience with data profiling, data quality, master data management, metadata management
• Experience across multiple operating systems: Unix/Linux, Mac, and [tolerance of] Windows 
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem identification and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• A deep passion for data modeling and developing new methods
• PREFERRED: master’s degree, project management experience, relevant certs in data science or project management
• NICE TO HAVE: Knowledge of or experience with the Allotrope Simple Model (ASM) for structured instrument data capture
