Position: AI/ML/Data Science Engineering Intern
Location: San Jose, CA

As an AI/ML/DS engineering intern, you will be responsible for designing and creating machine learning models to provide faster and more effective ways to address cloud security, cloud operations, and cloud intelligence use cases. While the primary focus will be on software development, an understanding or familiarity with machine learning concepts will be considered a significant advantage. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a blend of software engineering prowess and a passion for staying on the cusp of technological advancements.

You might not be an expert in every stage of an AI/ML/DS project, but you should have interests and curiosity in various parts ranging from the data to the model’s business impact.

Possible Intern Projects/Responsibilities:

• Software Development: Design, code, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions that align with company objectives and user requirements.
• Collaboration: Work alongside other developers, data scientists, and product managers in a team-oriented environment to produce integrated software solutions.
• Code Review & Quality Assurance: Ensure the robustness, efficiency, and scalability of applications through rigorous code reviews and automated testing.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest software development practices, tools, and frameworks. Familiarize yourself with machine learning concepts, as applied within the business.
• Documentation: Write clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for code, algorithms, and software solutions.
• Problem Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges and troubleshoot issues that arise in the production environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Rising Junior or Senior working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field in progress
• Proficiency in key programming languages relevant to the role (e.g., Python, Java, C++, etc.).
• Familiarity with software development frameworks and best practices.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge about cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio of personal projects.
• Demonstrated experience in the digital experience monitoring space, with a understanding of user experience metrics, monitoring tools, and methodologies
• Good understanding of operating systems and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with networking and networking security
• Excellent interpersonal, technical and communication skills
• Ability to learn, evaluate, and adopt new technologies quickly while thriving in ambiguity

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range$25—$50 USD
