About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a strategic and innovative Programmatic Social Lead to join our Growth Marketing team. In this role, you'll drive our paid social media strategy across key platforms including Google, Meta, Snapchat, and TikTok to amplify our brand reach and product adoption. You'll be responsible for developing data-driven strategies that optimize for diverse audiences, increasing the volume and variance of our creative assets, and ensuring excellence in measurement and KPI performance.

As the Programmatic Social Lead, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sophisticated audience targeting, testing frameworks, and performance measurement systems that support Anthropic's mission of creating safe, beneficial AI. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our growth trajectory while working at the forefront of AI innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement both short-term and long-term testing roadmaps for paid social campaigns, executing strategies to expand media activities in alignment with business KPI targets
  • Lead the creation of visual storytelling strategies that resonate with diverse audience segments across multiple platforms
  • Scale and optimize our programmatic social media spend across platforms with a focus on performance, efficiency, and growth
  • Design and implement sophisticated audience targeting strategies leveraging first and third-party data
  • Establish best practices for paid media that recognize the unique position of each business division while incorporating a consistent approach
  • Partner with creative, data science, and product teams to increase the volume and variance of creative assets and optimize performance
  • Continuously analyze campaign performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations to improve ROI
  • Stay current with the latest industry trends and drive innovation through alpha and beta testing with key platform partners
  • Lead A/B testing initiatives to refine messaging, creative approaches, and targeting parameters
  • Ensure all paid media activations meet or exceed industry gold standards for performance and brand safety

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in paid social media, with a proven track record of driving growth through programmatic campaigns
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale programs ($25M+ in annual spend)
  • Strong expertise across major social platforms including Google, Meta, Snapchat, and TikTok
  • Experience working effectively in matrix organizations, collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a data-driven approach to campaign optimization and performance measurement
  • Track record of successfully amplifying visual storytelling through paid social campaigns
  • Experience optimizing campaigns for diverse audience segments
  • Technical proficiency with data analysis tools and platforms; familiarity with simple scripts and SQL is preferred
  • Experience working closely with data, product, and engineering teams to drive integrated growth strategies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field

Strong candidates may also have:

  • Experience marketing AI or other innovative technology products
  • Experience with automation and programmatic buying tools for social media
  • Familiarity with creative testing methodologies and optimization techniques
  • Understanding of brand safety considerations in AI or technology contexts
  • Experience with incrementality testing and attribution modeling
  • Background in performance marketing for subscription-based products

At Anthropic, we believe that the highest-impact AI research and product development happens when diverse perspectives come together to solve complex problems. We value a collaborative environment where team members can thrive and contribute to our mission of building AI systems that are safe, beneficial, and aligned with human values.

The expected salary range for this position is:

Annual Salary:$300,000—$300,000 USD

Logistics

Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Location-based hybrid policy:
Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed.  Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
