Job Description

The Team

The AI & Platform Services (AIPS) team exists within the Seek Group and provides AI-centric core services that scale globally including search, behavioural tracking, recommendations, candidate matching, ontological services and personalisation. AIPS works primarily with internal partners, providing services to these partners, who in turn deliver products to customers (candidates, hirers).

Members of the AIPS team fall into one of three primary roles

• AI (artificial intelligence and machine learning)
• Strategy (business, product, go to market)
• Engineering (development, DevOps, responsible for production systems)

People representing each of these roles are combined into squads which are in turn responsible for related sets of business services.

About the role 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of scalable, high-performance systems that solve complex business problems. You’ll take ownership of critical components, drive technical decisions, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, maintainable software. Your role will also include mentoring team members, contributing to architectural planning, and ensuring that solutions align with strategic objectives while balancing short-term goals with long-term sustainability.

• Translate complex business and technical requirements into effective, real-world software solutions
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance components and services
• Take ownership of system components, driving implementation while managing technical debt
• Ensure high availability and reliability of services, meeting or exceeding defined SLAs
• Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, ontologists, and engineering leadership in an agile, team-oriented environment
• Contribute to long-term system planning, including architectural roadmaps and capacity strategies
• Define and implement thorough testing practices to ensure system quality and resilience
• Champion continuous delivery and deployment best practices, enhancing team productivity and delivery speed
• Balance short-term delivery priorities with the need for long-term architectural sustainability
• Design and run experiments to evaluate and optimize algorithms and system performance

Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Proficient in Python & TypeScript
• Proven strong Scala experience 
• Strong experience with AWS cloud platform
• Understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and LLMs
• Experience with functional programming is a plus
• Proven track record to build and maintain scalable, resilient systems
• Skilled in crafting robust software architecture
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
