Job Description

Purpose of the role

To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
  • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.

You'll harness cutting-edge technology to revolutionise our digital offerings, ensuring unparalleled customer experiences.  In this role, you will be an integral part of our Cyber Fraud Fusion Center, delivering scalable CFFC services to disrupt fraud and protect our customers and clients from economic crime. 

To be successful as a Senior Data Scientist you will need:

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications: 

  • Experience working as data scientist in global organisation, covering broad spectre of analytical skills from data mining, traditional trend analysis to development of advanced machine learning models. Demonstrated ability to coach Data Scientists to deliver models, including project planning and relationship building with model owners and other stakeholders. 
  • Ability to enrich, transform and analyse large structured and unstructured datasets including but not limited to internal and external intelligence, fraud and business data in support of cybercrime advanced campaign analysis. Minimum requirement practical experience in: Relational and None-Relational databases, Python, Jupyter Notebook, Hadoop, Spark and Rest APIs 
  • Familiar with descriptive and prescriptive analysis, understanding data and distribution machine learning algorithms regression, clustering, bagging boosting, neural networks, confusion matrix, roc-auc curve, type I and type II errors, association analysis, frequent pattern mining, data mining, critical thinking to build KPIs for analysis based on defined problem. 
  • Statistics: probability, confidence interval, hypothesis testing, central limit theorem, t-test, z-test, chi-square and ANOVA 
  • Ability to design and build automated processes interlinking various sources and destinations in batch or real time including but not limited to REST APIs, databases, SFTP and queues.

Desirable skills/Additional Qualifications: 

  • Experience with fraud detection and prevention systems, translating complex fraudsters modus operandi or behaviours into hypothesis and ML features. 
  • Knowledge of latest social engineering tactics used by cybercriminals, particularly in the scams space 
  • Broad spectrum of fundamental knowledge in web, networks (e.g. Proxies, VPN, DNS, web and mail servers) and cyber security
  • Experience leading Data Scientist teams across multiple locations delivering several concurrent projects.
  • Actively participates in and/or monitors research in data sciences methods, methodologies, developments and tooling.
