Senior Director, People Analytics 

 

Introduction to Team  

Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability. 

 

Role Summary 

We are seeking an innovative and strategically minded Senior Director, Head of People Analytics to join our dynamic HR team. This pivotal role will shape Expedia Group's people AI and analytics strategy, identifying innovative emerging technologies and solutions and transforming diverse data sets into actionable insights that drive critical business initiatives and elevate workforce experiences. With your strategic vision and technical expertise, you will empower data-driven decision-making and foster a culture of analytics across the organization. This position reports to the VP, People Analytics, Strategy, and PMO and is based in our Seattle, WA office. 

 

In this role, you will: 

Leadership & Strategy  

  • Provide strategic direction, thought leadership, and execution oversight for all areas of people analytics, including employee listening, data science, analytics products, machine learning and data engineering.  
  • Partner with the VP and broader HR and business leadership to evolve and align the people analytics strategy with enterprise and workforce priorities.  
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and continuous learning.  

 

Innovation and AI  

  • Identify emerging technologies, generative AI and advanced analytics trends to shape the future of people analytics  
  • Lead experimentation and incubation of innovative AI solutions that improve talent decision making, workforce experience and analytics capabilities  

 

Analytics Excellence & Scalable Solutions  

  • Drive the development of scalable, self-service analytics products and tools that empower HR and business leaders to make data-informed decisions. 
  • Lead efforts to improve the completeness, accuracy, and usability of people data by enhancing how data is captured, structured, and maintained across systems. Address legacy data quality issues and evolve data management practices to support advanced analytics at scale. 
  • Oversee advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives, identifying and delivering use cases that unlock business value.  
  • Craft impactful executive presentations using data storytelling and visualization to communicate insights and progress.  
  • Ensure excellence in employee listening programs, including product design, action planning, and integration with broader analytics efforts.  
  • Oversee people data architecture, platforms, and data engineering practices, ensuring high-quality, secure, and well-governed data assets.  
  • Champion and uphold responsible data usage, privacy, and ethical AI principles   

 

Collaboration & Influence  

  • Collaborate closely with HRBPs, COEs, People Technology, IT, and business leaders to integrate analytics into workforce planning, talent management, DEI, and other priority areas.  
  • Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders through compelling data storytelling and visualization.  

 

Experience and qualifications:  

  • 12 years in people analytics, workforce planning, or equivalent advanced analytics experience, with proven team leadership experience. Master’s or PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Statistics, or related).  
  • Hands-on experience working with HR systems, with a strong preference for Workday. Ability to integrate and leverage data across multiple HR technology platforms. 
  • Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and statistical programming languages (e.g., Python, R).  
  • Experience building and scaling AI solutions, data products, data pipelines, and analytics services.  
  • Experience leading data transformation initiatives, improve data quality, and implement scalable data management practices that enable robust analysis and insights. 
  • You are a strategic thinker who approaches problems with a data-driven mindset and thrives in a fast-paced environment.  
  • You have a passion for people analytics and employ your skills to power business success and enhance employee experiences.  
  • You are an innovator who is constantly exploring new technologies and ideas, especially AI, to elevate people analytics and transform the employee experience.  
  • You possess a notable balance of strategic vision and operational capability, always striving to improve processes and methodologies.  
  • You demonstrate political agility, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills, making you adept at telling stories fueled by data and influencing across all organizational levels.  

  The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $296,000 to $414,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $473,500, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. 

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
