We are looking for an enthusiastic Data Management Expert (DME) with a passion for data, modelling & design skills that will enable a delightful customer experience while interacting with our Data Products and will create a data driven environment through insights to support decision making. In your role, you will ensure that data products are optimally aligned with consumer requirements, trustworthy, well governed and delivered in a timely manner. 

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • Help product lead organizing intakes
  • Work closely with our consumers to discover and meet their data needs 
  • Analyze and clarify consumption requirements, create detailed functional specifications for DevOps engineers 
  • Understand existing conceptual, logical and physical data models, and help draw up new ones, as you are a sparring partner for engineers in creation or sourcing data into physical data models (one of the existing models is ING’s version of IBM Banking Data Warehouse model) 
  • Leads modelling and design workshops/sprints
  • Helps others in creating models and designs
  • Applies product/design thinking and challenges others to do the same
  • Is part of the trinity on product level
  • Lead the design / modelling outcomes in the product, responsible for the overall design of the product
  • Contribute to Data Governance – create and maintain Data Definitions as part of meta-data management (using IBM InfoSphere Governance Catalog), create Data Quality rules, contribute to Data Retention 
  • Be an advocate of “ING Orange code” behaviors – helps others be successful, be one step ahead, take it on and make it happen 
  • Responsible for Designing the full Customer Experience (not just UI), including all touch points and interactions a customer has with ING and the product over time
  • Responsible for following the design process from discovery to delivery; applying design tools & techniques according to ING standards
  • Creates mock-ups and prototypes to communicate and validate ideas, both internally and externally.
  • Ensures Both interaction and visual design are consistent with the ING standards and the overall (brand) experience and consults with the Experience booster (former CX board) where needed
  • Ensures delivered experience adheres to all ING’s design principles
  • Ensures usability risks are mitigated by continuously testing ideas with real users and customers. Takes decisions based on real customer data and insights.
  • Work with various stakeholders, such as Architects, data stewards, stakeholders (upstream & downstream the chain & other engineers within and outside the team)

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Knowledge and experience in data management, data warehousing, dimensional data modelling, data governance 
  • 3-5 years (minimum) of experience with data and business analysis 
  • Strong knowledge of SQL 
  • Knowledge or experience about Agile working 
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills 
  • Knowledge of and experience in the banking sector 
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) 
  • Enthusiastic personality and Team Player: focus on delivery through collaboration, ability to unite people to work towards the same purpose. Advocate of the “ING Orange Code” 
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree
