Most importantly, they have a strong passion for quantitative investment risk analysis and are committed to making a real difference.

Your role provides you the exposure to buy-side investment strategies among various asset classes. Leveraging your quantitative experience, you collaborate with teams of risk experts to drive changes for how AIMCo tracks, understands and manages risks. Your insights will contribute to informed decision-making and help the organization optimize risk-adjusted returns.

Responsibilities:
  • Produce Risk Reports and, with the understanding of risk models, conduct in-depth risk assessments, such as Value at Risk (VaR), stress testing, factor comparison, etc.
  • Participate in project work such as, but not limited to, development of new reports, enhancement, automation or re-constructions of existing reports and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with client/product risk managers and other stakeholders to provide methodical support.
  • Work with Business Technology and external vendors to bring continued improvements and innovation to risk systems and processes
  • Take ownership of the team’s work to continuously optimize them

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant quantitative field (ex: Financial Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business/Finance, Economics, Computer Science); graduate degree is an asset
  • 0-3 years of experience working in the financial industry in capacities of risk management, investment management, advanced analytics, and/or quantitative modeling.
  • Completion of or enrollment in a professional designation (e.g., CFA, FRM, PRM) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of risk management and metrics used in the investment management industry (i.e., tracking error, VAR/ETL, stress testing, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, financial concepts, investment strategies, investment products, and their underlying risk drivers.
  • Advanced working knowledge in Python, SQL, Excel (VBA), and other programming tools
  • Prior experience with data engineering, visualization and reporting through Power BI
  • Prior developer experience with Databricks is an asset
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a quantitative background; able to think through complex ideas and problems while assessing multiple factors to recommend practical solutions.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration and inspires the same in others.

Success Measures: Success will be achieved through gaining a full understanding of AIMCo’s risk modeling methodology. From there, the successful team member will contribute to enhancements, increase their accountability, and contribute to the annual market risk model validation cycle
