About the Role
As a Senior BI Analyst at Workiva, you will transform complex data into strategic insights that drive business decisions. You’ll partner closely with senior leaders to uncover meaningful patterns in performance metrics, customer behavior, and operations—moving beyond "what happened" to deliver the "why" and "what's next." Your ability to blend technical expertise, business acumen, and data storytelling will help Workiva move with greater speed, precision, and confidence toward our strategic goals.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Analysis & Insights
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, delivering performance dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and executive-level reporting
Lead deep-dive analyses to uncover trends, business drivers, risks, and opportunities across key business functions
Create and present compelling data narratives that make complex findings accessible to decision-makers
Dashboard Development & Reporting
Design, develop and maintain scalable BI solutions that monitor key business metrics and KPIs
Drive automation of recurring reports while enhancing self-service capabilities for business stakeholders
Ensure all analytics outputs meet the highest standards of data integrity through rigorous quality assurance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with leaders across Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Marketing, and Product to translate business questions into metrics and data requirements
Collaborate with Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering to develop robust business metrics and KPIs that align with strategic objectives, and to implement scalable data models that support evolving business needs
Engage with Data Governance teams to ensure metric integrity, consistency, and compliance with data standard
Facilitate cross-departmental data initiatives that break down silos and create unified business intelligence
Analytics Leadership & Ownership
Balance competing priorities effectively, responding to urgent requests while maintaining analytical rigor and accuracy
Demonstrate accountability for results by following through on commitments and addressing any quality issues promptly
Establish best practices for analytics and data visualization
Mentor junior analysts and BI developers
Champion a culture of data-driven decision making throughout the organization
What You’ll Need
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related role within the technology sector
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science). Master’s preferred
Preferred Qualifications
SQL & Data Manipulation: Expert-level SQL proficiency with demonstrated ability to query, transform, and analyze complex multi-source datasets
Data Visualization: Advanced skills in developing compelling visual insights with visualization tools such as Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Superset, and Python libraries (Seaborn, Matplotlib, Plotly)
Data Modeling & Transformation: Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, hands-on experience using tools like dbt (data build tool) to create scalable, maintainable metrics a plus
Cloud Data Platforms: Working knowledge of modern data warehousing solutions including Snowflake and Redshift
Statistical Analysis: Proficiency in statistical methods including hypothesis testing, A/B testing, regression analysis, and causal inference
Programming Skills: Familiarity with Python or R for advanced analysis and workflow automation (preferred)
Data Governance: Experience with data governance and metadata management tools such as Atlan, Alation, or similar platforms
Exceptional analytical mindset with proven ability to extract actionable insights from complex data
Advanced stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to collaborate and influence across organizational boundaries
Exceptional communication and data storytelling skills that distill complex concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences
Deep understanding of SaaS business models and how analytics drives business outcomes
Self-motivated problem-solver who thrives in ambiguous environments and approaches challenges with investigative rigor
Demonstrated track record of aligning analytical outputs with corporate strategy and business objectives

How You’ll Be Rewarded
✅ Salary range in the US: $111,000.00 - $178,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
