Opportunity Northland is looking for a Data Engineer who will be a part of our Data & Analytics team.
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures that enable efficient data collection, transformation, and analysis across the organization.
Your work will directly support our Data & Analytics initiatives by ensuring the availability, accuracy, and integrity of data from multiple sources.
This position is based in Vancouver, Canada and will report to the Manager, Data & Analytics.

Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering tools (dbt, Azure Data Factory, Databricks) .
• Architect and manage data warehouse and data lake solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse).
• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data needs.
• Integrate data from diverse structured and unstructured sources (APIs, databases, cloud storage).
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance through validation and monitoring. Apply best practices in security, compliance, and privacy for sensitive datasets.
• Optimize queries and data models for performance and scalability.
• Implement and maintain data infrastructure in cloud environments (e.g., Azure).
• Create and maintain documentation related to data architecture, lineage, and technical flows.
• Maintain code and data repositories.
• Support business analysts when developing project plans, identifying scope, defining deliverables, planning milestones and status updates, establishing proper communication, and mitigating any roadblocks.

Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management of Technology, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
• At least three years of experience in the data field.
• Proficiency in SQL
• Experience working on Data projects; Understanding of data management, data modeling, BI and analytics concepts.
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and Medallion architecture.
• Experience with Cloud Data Services and Big Data tools & technologies. Experience with the following specific technologies is a plus:
◦ Snowflake
◦ dbt
◦ Databricks
◦ Azure (ADF, ADLSgen2, Container Instances)
◦ Microsoft Power Platform
• Exposure to both Agile & waterfall frameworks.
• Experience in the hospitality field is a plus
