Introduction to the team

We create and deliver an aligned, dedicated marketing strategy to fuel each Expedia Group brand's success. Since our travelers interact with us through our brands, we have a brand focus in our marketing, while leveraging the scale and efficiency we’ve built in functional expertise. 

The Bidding Experimentation and Machine Learning Engineering Team (BEME) is looking for a passionate Machine Learning Engineer III to join our team. The BEME team is responsible for providing engineering expertise as well as developing tools and processes to prepare data, productionize, maintain, and run the models built by data and machine learning scientists. This team is also responsible for automating the workflows used by the bidding operation and campaign management teams. The engineering team is based in London and Seattle, supporting users globally. We process hundreds of automated workflows dealing with a large volume of data.

In this role, you will:

  • Work in a cross-functional team of Software Development and Machine Learning engineers to productionize, maintain, improve, and automate large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines in AWS.

  • Build tools and/or evaluate third-party solutions where appropriate to ensure that our world-class machine learning platform is continuously improving.

  • Make recommendations for leveraging emerging technologies and machine learning/software design patterns.

  • Apply software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, and modular with good naming conventions.

  • Apply knowledge of database design to solve data requirements.

  • Coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions to issues.

  • Execute tasks and/or provide data to support implementation of holistic solutions that forge linkages between structure, people, process and technology.

Experience and qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Technical degree

  • Efficient and skilled use of Python, as well as demonstrated strength with a variety of other programming and markup languages

  • Experience working with scikit/Tensorflow/PyTorch.

  • Developed software in a team environment of other engineers (agile, version control, etc.)

  • Built and maintained a software project/product in production environments in cloud infrastructure.

  • Hands-on experience with OOAD, design patterns, SQL and NoSQL

  • Familiarity with more than one data stores or API access patterns and Big Data applications such as Hive, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, DataBricks, Kedro, Dremio, Tableau, etc.

  • Solid understanding of machine learning pipelines

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
