Job Description:

Your responsibilities would be to do the following:

  • Design responsibilities:
    • Work with a product manager to provide feedback on product requirement documents (PRD). This involves negotiating what work can feasibly be implemented for the next software release, asking for further clarification on under-defined or ambiguous user stories, and suggesting alternatives when appropriate.
    • Write engineering-requirements-documents (ERD) that break down a set of product features into an execution plan with sections that lay out options for how we’d implement them into the product.
    • Proactively reach-out to, set up meetings with, and asychronously communicate with other team members across the business unit to better understand related components within the product as well as feature requirements.
  • Implementation responsibilities:
    • Develop code changes (usually either in Golang or Python) to the product based on implementation tickets. These tickets are created as a result of a previous ERD.
    • communicate and coordinate work with other engineers who are implementing tickets within the same workstream as defined by the ERD.
    • Identify areas of ‘technical debt’ and raise them up to the team.
    • Budget a portion of your time to pickup and implement ‘technical debt’ or ‘bug fixing’ tickets.

  • Technology Stack responsibilities:
    • Dedicate some of your time (1 - 3 hours a week) into learning any of the following:
      • Machine Learning Tools: KubeFlow, AirFlow, MLFflow, Spark, Jupyter Notebooks
      • LLM related tools: LangChain, Vector Databases like Weaviate, Milvus
      • Kubernetes Operator patterns and broader Kubernetes design patterns
      • Modern Auth Patterns: OAuth2, OIDC, LDAP

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 4 years of experience writing ’backend' applications such as REST APIs or gRPC servers using any of the following languages:
    • Go, C++, C, Rust, Java, Python
  • 2 years working in a linux-like environment and basic unix/linux literacy
  • 2 years working on products that run on Kubernetes and basic Kubernetes literacy

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ML tools like KubeFlow
