Description

Upstream is looking for a true Automotive Domain Expert. Someone who knows cars inside and out: mechanical systems, electronic components, how sub-systems interact, and how it all comes together to form a complete, functional machine. Maybe you've spent hours rebuilding engines for fun, or you find yourself naturally drawn to exploring how modern automotive technologies operate under the hood and behind the scenes.

At Upstream, you'll take that passion and curiosity and channel it into something bigger — helping us make sense of the raw data coming from millions of real vehicles. You'll work closely with our data scientists and product teams to turn fragmented vehicle data into meaningful insights. You’ll represent the “car mindset” in a company that’s building cutting-edge tools for automotive quality, cybersecurity, and anomaly detection.

This isn’t just a technical role — it’s for someone who gets excited about the details, loves solving complex mechanical and data puzzles, and wants to play a key part in shaping the future of automotive intelligence.

This role is full-time and is based in Herzliya, Israel.

Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert and conduct in-depth research and analysis on global vehicle manufacturers, including vehicle failures, mechanical, electrical and digital systems, EV systems, and much more .
  • Work closely with our engineering and product teams, as well as customer facing teams to ensure we deliver optimal value to our customers.
  • Analyze and extract insights from  massive automotive datasets to deliver product-level insights and automotive-specific research.
  • Develop automotive domain-specific generative AI prompts.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and data analysts to build and productize ML models and detection modules.
  • Actively engage with our customers to learn how our technologies can support their challenges and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Strong foundational understanding of how vehicles work, including subsystems, their integration, and system-level behavior.
  • In depth knowledge and passion of vehicle brands and industry trends.
  • An analytical thinker who’s comfortable working with data and has a keen eye for details.
  • Technical literacy in automotive technologies — experience with diagnostic tools, electronic systems, and analytical platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills and a user-centric mindset; ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of independently learning new systems and technologies.
  • Fluent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • People person – a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
