About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive SQL Database Engineer to join our data team. This role is a hybrid of database administration and data engineering, responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and developing SQL Server and AWS MySQL environments. You’ll design and manage data pipelines using SSIS, create reports with SSRS, and ensure secure and high-performance access to critical business data across platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (on-premises and cloud).
- Develop, deploy, and support SSIS packages for ETL workflows.
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards using SSRS.
- Manage and optimize MySQL databases in AWS (RDS or EC2-based).
- Automate data integration across SQL Server, AWS MySQL, and third-party systems.
- Monitor database performance and perform tuning, backups, recovery, and patching.
- Collaborate with developers and analysts to support data-driven applications and solutions.
- Ensure security, data integrity, and compliance with IT standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues quickly and effectively.
- Support data migration and transformation initiatives across environments.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration and development.
- Strong experience with SSIS (ETL packages), SSRS (reporting), and T-SQL.
- Hands-on experience managing MySQL databases on AWS (e.g., RDS).
- Solid knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience working with big data, or large datasets.
- Experience with data migration and integration projects.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, or Lambda is a plus.
- Familiarity with Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Cockroach DB is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
