Your role and working environment

Data is one of the foundations of ING’s strategy to become one digital bank and Data Operations is the place to operationalize and execute our data strategy. The Data Operations organization will fulfil ING’s strong belief that data is key in ING’s ambition to become a data driven digital bank, where we need more granular data of high quality to manage the bank wide (customer-)processes, modelling and decision making.

Global Head of Data Operations is the person who holds ultimate responsibility for the Data Operations services delivered by the circles across the globe and derives crystal-clear objectives from the strategy while continuously checking these objectives against changing market conditions. 

Global Data Operations consist of five domains:

- Global Data Quality: Global Data Quality function is responsible for structurally improving Data Quality through robust processes from designing DQ rules, up to remediation and prevention of DQ issues at source.

- Data Management Operations: Builds up scalable service model for Data Management Operations to ensure required execution and roll out of governance and protection activities in a unified manner across countries and functions  

- Customer Data Operations: Responsible for consolidating, scale, and automate customer data

processes (creation, updating and in-activations of party, product, agreement, reference data) that are critical to the commercial activities and KYC lifecycle, ensuring data quality and compliance at every step.

- External Data Management: Ensures external data is bought in line with Data Users’ demand, ING strategy on vendor selection for external data and its associated cost

- Data Control & Reconciliation: Offers data flow control services and reconciliation services across the globe to enable seamless and efficient data delivery for all stakeholders

In total, the Global Data Operations department have ~250 FTE spread across the globe.

Your key responsibilities

As Global Head Data Operations

  • You will be responsible for setting the strategy, purpose and ambitions for Data Operations, based on the overall data Strategy and COO vision
  • You will define the global operating model for Data Operations and strives for delivering robust, standardized services to our global stakeholders making sure they are operated seamless. 
  • You will work on standardization and centralization of our data operations efforts across the globe and maximize the principles of digitalization to ensure our human efforts are focused on improving our client experience.
  • Responsible for preparing ING Data Operations facts to regulatory parties, participate in regulators and other industry forums
  • Closely collaborate with Data Management teams on the PCS design, compliancy and roll-out in the countries and Data Platform & Delivery teams on technical matters
  • You will optimize our workforce across teams and locations

Your previous experience and technical skills

• You are a seasoned experienced senior manager with > 15 years of experience

• You have a strong track record of leadership

• You have experience in leading and managing teams of high value specialists and proven record

in developing talents;

• You have an university degree or equivalent;

• You have an excellent level of English (verbal/written);

• You have solid understanding of Business Process Modelling and workflow management

• You have a good commercial acumen and can handle costing and budgeting

• You can manage change and a large portfolio of projects and programmes

• You have sound knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, regulations and how to implement

and maintain them
