The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. Building on this rich history, and as the only university with a renowned design school and premier colleges focusing on the performing and liberal arts and social sciences, The New School is committed to developing students who will have an impact on the world and boldly address the most pressing social issues of our time. The Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) supports the entire university in assessing institutional progress toward achieving our goals and sharing this within and outside the university through a variety of methods, including data visualizations, reports, digests, and participation in survey and external data collection efforts.

Reporting to the Assistant Provost of Institutional Research & Decision Support, and supporting the work of the entire IRDS team as directed, successful institutional research data analysts will be energetic and committed to communicating information grounded in quality data analysis to a wide audience in the language they understand - be that visual representations in Tableau, Excel pivot tables, or models with user input. They will be comfortable pulling data together seamlessly from multiple sources and providing systematic reporting and communication, eventually from all areas of the university ecosystem (including student, faculty and staff, financial, quantitative/qualitative survey results, and assessment). Experience working in a fast-paced environment and being flexible to changing priorities are required. The ideal candidate is a self-starting, resourceful, data scientist with analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, decision-making, and project management abilities, and most importantly curiosity.

The New School is committed to creating and maintaining an environment that upholds and advances diversity and inclusion across all areas of employment, education, and access to its educational, artistic, and cultural programs and activities. We strongly encourage applications from individuals who share our commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community.
