The Opportunity

As the Robotics and Automation Lead, you will be at the forefront of our new venture, responsible for translating business needs and market opportunities into cutting-edge robotics and automation solutions. This is a highly strategic and hands-on role — ideal for someone who can balance R&D leadership with the realities of prototyping, product development, and team building.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the technical vision and strategy for our robotics and automation offerings.

  • Design, develop, and deploy robotic systems and automated solutions, from concept to working prototype.

  • Evaluate and integrate sensors, embedded systems, AI, and mechanical components into cohesive robotic platforms.

  • Build and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers.

  • Partner with product, business, and operations leads to shape the roadmap and ensure technical feasibility.

  • Stay on top of emerging technologies, industry trends, and academic research to drive innovation.

  • Manage vendor relationships, partnerships, and potential collaborations with universities or research labs.

  • Develop and maintain robust testing, safety, and QA protocols.

  • Contribute to fundraising, investor discussions, and early customer engagements as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (7+ years) in robotics, mechatronics, or automation systems, with a track record of building complex systems.

  • Deep understanding of robotics hardware (actuators, controllers, embedded systems) and software (ROS, C++/Python, SLAM, motion planning).

  • Experience designing custom robotic platforms or automation workflows, ideally in both R&D and production environments.

  • Ability to prototype quickly and iterate rapidly in startup-like conditions.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills — able to inspire and lead technical teams while engaging non-technical stakeholders.

  • Degree in Robotics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; postgraduate degrees or research experience are a plus.

  • Experience with AI/ML applications in robotics (e.g., computer vision, reinforcement learning).

  • Prior experience in startups or early-stage ventures.

  • Exposure to industrial automation, logistics robotics, or human-robot interaction design.

  • Published research or patents in the field.
