JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Solution Architect (AI) will design comprehensive technical solutions that leverage generative AI, machine learning, data engineering, and full-stack development practices to address complex business challenges. This role bridges the gap between business requirements and technical implementation, working closely with Product Owners, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Data Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, Platform Engineer, and Reliability Engineering as other architects and R&D functions to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards while meeting specific business needs. The Solution Architect will develop solution patterns, reference architectures, and best practices for AI-powered applications, with a strong focus on generative AI technologies, large language models (LLMs), data architecture, and enterprise ML operations.
This position is instrumental in transforming business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective AI products. For Entergy's Artificial Intelligence strategy, we define AI as a combination of software, data, and other digital tools that automate work processes. The Solution Architect will design data architectures and pipelines that power analytical capabilities (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models), automation tools including robotic process automation, and generative AI applications with conversational interfaces. The role requires deep understanding of business processes, data ecosystems, and objectives to create reliable, sustainable, and innovative solutions that deliver measurable business value.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- AI Solution Design: Create comprehensive solution designs for generative AI applications, ML systems, and full-stack software products that align with enterprise architecture standards while meeting specific business requirements.
- Data Architecture Development: Design robust, scalable data architectures that support AI/ML initiatives, including data models, storage solutions, integration patterns, and data governance frameworks aligned with enterprise standards.
- Data Engineering Solutions: Architect data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data transformation workflows that efficiently prepare high-quality data for AI/ML models and analytics platforms.
- Generative AI Expertise: Provide thought leadership in implementing generative AI technologies, including large language models, conversational AI interfaces, and content generation systems that enhance business capabilities.
- Machine Learning Architecture: Design scalable ML architectures covering data pipelines, model training, deployment, monitoring, and feedback loops that enable continuous improvement of AI capabilities.
- Full Stack Integration: Develop reference architectures that seamlessly integrate AI capabilities and data services with front-end, back-end, and database components to create cohesive product experiences.
- Technical Requirements Translation: Transform business requirements into detailed technical specifications, solution designs, data models, and implementation roadmaps that engineering teams can efficiently execute.
- Technology Evaluation: Assess emerging AI technologies, data platforms, frameworks, and tools to determine their potential value for the organization's products and services.
- Solution Governance: Ensure all AI and data solutions adhere to enterprise architecture principles, data governance policies, security standards, and compliance requirements while maintaining technical integrity.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product owners, business analysts, data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and cloud architects to develop holistic solutions that address both technical and business needs.
- Performance and Scalability Design: Architect solutions with appropriate performance characteristics, data scalability provisions, and resilience patterns to meet current and future business demands.
- Cost Optimization: Design solutions that balance technical excellence with cost efficiency, leveraging appropriate technologies and services to maximize return on investment.
- Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Create comprehensive solution architecture documentation, including data flow diagrams, specifications, and implementation guidelines for engineering teams.
- Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship to engineering and data teams on AI implementation best practices, helping to build organizational capabilities in data engineering, generative AI, and ML.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field. Advanced degree in Machine Learning, AI, Data Science, or related field is a plus.
Minimum experience required of the position
- This position level will be determined by year of experience and skills, all experience and skills.
- Solution Architect Level: 4+ years of progressive experience in solution architecture, data engineering, software engineering, or data science roles
- Experience designing data architectures, data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data processing systems
- Strong background in data modeling, data integration, and data quality frameworks
- Experience with full-stack architecture patterns and practices
- Strong understanding of cloud-native application design and microservices architecture
- Sr Solution Architect Level: 8+ years of progressive experience in solution architecture with demonstrated expertise in AI/ML implementations and data architecture including meeting all Solution Architect skills
- Experience designing and implementing generative AI solutions using modern LLM frameworks (e.g., OpenAI, Bedrock, Anthropic, SageMaker)
- Proven track record in architecting and delivering enterprise-scale ML solutions and data platforms
- Experience leading teams of peers and developers
- Solution Architect Level: 4+ years of progressive experience in solution architecture, data engineering, software engineering, or data science roles
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- In-depth knowledge of generative AI technologies, capabilities, and limitations
- Strong understanding of ML operations (MLOps) practices and tooling
- Expert knowledge of data architecture principles, patterns, and best practices
- Proficiency in designing AI and data solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Snowflake)
- Knowledge of software development practices, API design, and integration patterns
- Experience with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code
- Understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with AI ethics, responsible AI frameworks, and governance models
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
AWS Solution Architect certification, data engineering certifications, relevant AI/ML certifications, or architecture framework certifications (e.g., TOGAF) are preferred.
