Data Engineer

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the corporate Azure SQL and Azure Data factory data pipelines and database objects, ensuring optimized data integration and accuracy of all related data assets. The incumbent will be experienced in the areas of data warehousing, data modelling, data pipeline- and data mart development as well as data extraction methodologies.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Monitor the production environment and associated data pipelines to ensure data availability.
• Oversee production deployments, ensuring CI/CD processes align with corporate standards.
• Design, develop, maintain, and document Azure Data Factory pipelines in accordance with corporate frameworks.
• Build and maintain logical and physical data models to support robust data architecture.
• Develop, optimize, and manage scalable data pipelines and DataMarts.
• Implement CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps for seamless deployment.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation across all data assets and processes.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for timely and reliable corporate reporting.
• Collaborate closely with IT/IS, data science, BI teams, and business units to identify and resolve data quality issues.
• Administer and support the data warehouse environment, tools, and ETL jobs.
• Establish contingency plans for critical processes to maintain data availability and business continuity.
• Provide subject matter expertise on data warehouse operations and performance optimization.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant privacy and data protection regulations.
• Contribute to a flexible, collaborative, and proactive team culture, taking on additional responsibilities as needed.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience with Azure SQL MI, including database design, development, and scripting.
• Proficient in Azure DevOps for CI/CD, and skilled in Azure Data Factory for data pipeline and data mart development.
• Strong background in relational and multi-dimensional data modeling from diverse sources (databases, flat files, OLAP/ROLAP).
• Expert experience in data pipeline and data mart development using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Proficiency in using Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database development and administration, and Azure Batch for Python deployment.
• Familiarity with Docker, Linux, and production system deployments.
• Experience with Databricks, Data Lakes, and Azure Synapse would be an asset.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
• Places emphasis on client satisfaction and clearly communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical team members and other staff.
• Creative, adaptable, and able to multitask in high-pressure environments with integrity and professionalism.
