The Data Developer plays a vital role in designing, developing, and enhancing the Seaspan Shipyard’s organization's data warehouse and analytics solutions within the Azure cloud platform. This position requires ownership of key initiatives, ensuring the effective design, development, and expansion of data-driven solutions that support the organization's evolving needs. Success in this role demands professionalism, initiative, and a proactive approach to challenges, contributing to continuous innovation.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What you'll do
- Design and construct Data Lake ingestion and staging of corporate data sources for Analytics purposes using Azure Data Factory.
- Design and implement ETL routines using PySpark to load transformed data into the Data Warehouse.
- Design and implement Data Lake lifecycle processes that support effective data provisioning capabilities to feed analytical requirements.
- Implement data pipelines using medallion architecture, organizing data into bronze, silver, and gold layers for efficient processing and management.,
- Work closely with Business and other developers and data architects to interpret functional requirements into long-term sustainable data architectures.
- Design and maintain code and component repositories to track and sustain critical elements of the Analytics stack that drives quality and versioning during the development lifecycle.
- Supports best practices in data modeling methodologies for the design and implementation of effective datasets.
- Works closely with stakeholders to understand use cases and ensure developed data products meet their needs.
- Participates in Scrum ceremonies as part of the Data and Integration team.
- Develops root-cause analysis for incidents and contributes to lessons learned.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data development or a similar role, with expertise in cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
- Strong understanding of various data modeling techniques and concepts, including relational, dimensional model.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, SQL, C#, PowerShell, PySpark.
- Solid working knowledge of Azure Data Stack (Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Azure Databricks).
- Familiar with Azure DevOps, CI/CD and source control practices.
- Experience using IDEs such as VS or VS Code for development and Git for version control.
- Familiarity or experience with Azure Logic Apps and Function Apps will be considered an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
