Engineer, Sr. Tech Leader – Operations Intelligence & Analytics

We are seeking an experienced Operations Intelligence & Analytics Senior Engineer to join our Intelligent Operations Team and drive the next generation of data-driven decision-making in Pella’s operations. With deep expertise in data strategy, visualization, and industrial analytics, you will lead the development of analytical frameworks and insights that transform the way we manufacture windows and doors. Your work will directly influence decision-making, optimize factory performance, and unlock operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
Analytics Strategy & Execution
- Define and execute an analytics roadmap aligned to operational priorities across operations, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and quality.
- Lead the evolution of our analytics capabilities—from ad-hoc reporting to predictive and prescriptive insights.
Stakeholder Leadership & Influence
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by translating business goals into data-driven initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and IT leaders to define metrics that matter.
Advanced Data Exploration & Modeling
- Conduct root cause analysis, statistical modeling, and process optimization across production and quality data sets.
- Identify hidden patterns, bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation using advanced techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, forecasting).
Data Product Ownership
- Own the lifecycle of high-impact dashboards and analytical products that monitor and drive operational performance.
- Advocate for intuitive, decision-oriented visualizations (Power BI, Tableau, Data Manager) with a focus on usability and adoption.
Mentorship & Standards
- Coach and mentor junior analysts, instilling best practices in data literacy, storytelling, and reproducibility.
- Establish and uphold standards for data quality, data governance, and documentation.
Collaboration with Data Engineering & IT
- Partner closely with data engineers to influence architecture, data models, and pipelines supporting near real-time and historical analysis.
- Contribute to the design of scalable, reusable datasets sourced from Oracle EBS, MES, PLCs, IoT devices, etc.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay ahead of emerging analytics trends (ML, digital twins, edge computing) and propose proof-of-concept pilots that could deliver strategic impact.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience: Proven track record in data analysis and dashboard development, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Deep understanding of operations & manufacturing processes. Strong experience in working with business stakeholders and collaborating with data engineering teams.
Skills: Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and programming languages (Python, SQL). Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure), data streaming (Kafka), and data transformation tools (Databricks). Strong understanding of agile methodologies. Exceptional communication and storytelling skills—able to simplify complexity and inspire action at all levels. Experience with Agile/Scrum and the productization of analytics solutions.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for uncovering insights from complex datasets.
Customer Focus: Customer-centric mindset with a focus on delivering value and meeting the needs of stakeholders.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MES systems and connectivity to manufacturing processes & machines.
- Exposure to industrial automation and robotics.
- Familiarity with GraphQL and Oracle EBS.
