What You’ll Be Doing 

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent candidate to join the EFX team. The EFX team within Capital Markets Trading is a highly client-centric team that combines ultra-low latency technology and market expertise to provide best in class pricing, risk management and electronic execution solutions to institutional, corporate, mid-market and retail client segments globally.

CIBC’s EFX offering is a core component of our client-centric business and is continuously evolving to ensure we position ourselves for ongoing growth in electronic trading, both in core foreign exchange products and the broader Global Markets business.

How You'll Succeed

Trading - Manage the firm’s risk and exposure in the most efficient and optimal way including working with the EFX business and colleagues in other centers and job functions. Assist with the development of systematic pricing and hedging strategies in collaboration with our Quant team . Monitor market liquidity and optimize execution strategies to minimize trading costs. Work closely with the technology and development teams to refine and improve trading tools and infrastructure

Cross-Functional Relationships - Partner with regional and global trading and sales team to ensure all accounts are fully optimized, including providing guidance and working together to generate client materials. Partner with voice sales to provide domain expertise in business development activities and client management. Liaise with internal business and technology teams for pre-trade and post-trade issue resolution (trading, settlement, credit, technology, etc.)

Data Analytics - Partner with Quant and Technology teams to develop innovative analytics to explain and communicate key aspects of our electronic business with our wider Sales, Risk and Trading teams. This role is critical to the continued focus of eFX as a data-driven business, where pricing and hedging are optimized continuously. Own and enhance key performance reporting processes, including application of traditional and Ai-type approaches, to provide actionable information across our teams. Work across the eFX, Quant and Technology teams to apply these insights to our systems and configurations, with a constant focus on improving the performance of the Trading activity Leverage past experience working with visualization and data tools, e.g. Tableau, Plotly, and communication of reporting, data and conclusions to a disparate group of stakeholders including Senior Management. Experience using Python and SQL is essential; q/kdb+ and C++/Java experience preferred.

 

Who You Are 

• You have attained an advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science or similar discipline

• You can demonstrate direct experience with electronic foreign exchange or electronic market making in another asset class

• You can demonstrate ability to manage risk and monetize franchise value and proven knowledge of the implications of global macroeconomics and geopolitics as it pertains to FX and financial markets

• You have strong analytical aptitude and ability to perform deep-dive data analysis as well as high level strategic thinking

• You are an exceptional communicator and are comfortable explaining results to both technical and non-technical audiences

• You have a desire to work within a fast-paced, collaborative, team-driven environment

• You give meaning to data. Experience with applied analytics driving actionable insights, facilitating problem solving and leading development of new business opportunities.
