Primary objective of the job: 

 

As Digicel’s Data Scientist you will:  

 

  • Interact with the business to understand its needs and develop use cases for analytics to support its operations
  • Lead implementation of analytic approaches, integrating work into applications and tools with data engineers, business leads, etc
  • Efficiently query large volumes of data and quickly draw insights
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends and support optimal decision making
  • Create repeatable, interpretable, dynamic, and scalable models that are seamlessly incorporated into analytics solutions, deployable into Production for use by the business
  • Design and implement appropriate statistical measures to evaluate the performance of the models
  • Collaborate with developers to successfully implement and prototype solutions

     

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in the field of data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience in developing machine learning/ analytical models to support business activity (statistics/ML modeling, A/B test experimentation, statistical analysis, causal inference, etc.)
  • Experience with Python or R required
  • Experience with dash boarding tools (Dash, Shiny, Tableau)
  • Ability to structure a problem, gather supporting data using big-data technology (AWS tools, SQL, Python) and
  • Experience with large-scale data warehousing, and writing strong narratives to convey findings
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently learn and solve new business domains and problems
  • Experience with popular open-source or commercial optimization libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch)
  • Knowledgeable about containerization, managing pipelines and micro services (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Evaluate and make decisions around dataset implementations designed and proposed by peer data scientist
