As a Data Science Manager at Meta, you will help shape the future of the experiences we build for billions of people and hundreds of millions of businesses, creators, and partners around the world.

You will apply your people leadership, project management, analytical, and technical skills, creativity, and product intuition to one of the largest data sets in the world. You will collaborate on a wide array of product and business problems with a wide-range of cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance and others. You will influence product strategy and investment decisions with data, be focused on impact, and lead and grow a high-performing team. The Generative AI product group was formed to consolidate the Generative AI work at Meta with the vision of bringing generative AI experiences to billions of users on our platform. Since then, the team has been working towards building and integrating these experiences across our family of apps and devices.

You will lead a team of Data Scientists who are responsible for driving strategy, data acquisition, quality and evaluation for the open source models we build. This is at the very forefront of what is possible in AI today, so you will be building the instrumentation for the plane while flying it.

You will drive actionable recommendations and key technical decisions with Meta’s researchers and leadership.Data Science Manager, GenAI Responsibilities
  • We're aiming to be the most powerful and useful open-source frontier AI model while maintaining a high bar for safety.
  • Identify and size new opportunities to integrate GenAI technology into our existing product offerings and perhaps even define new ones.
  • Clarify how our language and image/video models are performing. Define key metrics for measuring model effectiveness.
  • Drive insight to action by identifying focus areas and opportunities to accelerate model performance, and directly influencing decision-making with Meta’s leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, operations research, econometrics, computer science, engineering), or BS/MS in a quantitative discipline with equivalent working experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of work experience (3+ years with a Ph.D.) in applied quantitative field, including 2+ years of experience managing analytics teams
  • 5+ years of experience in a team leadership role, including 2+ years of experience with people management through layers
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working on consumer facing products
  • Experience communicating both in low-level technical details as well as high-level strategies
  • Experience in cross-functional partnership among teams of Engineering, Design, PM, Data Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or another quantitative field.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing analytics teams.
  • 7+ years of experience doing quantitative analysis, statistical modeling or machine learning in the experimentation space

$206,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
