JOB SUMMARY:
The Data Science & Strategy Operations Manager serves as the connective thread between the Data Science and Strategy (DSS), internal stakeholders, and external clients—ensuring that every data science initiative is clearly scoped, strategically aligned, and effectively communicated.
This individual works in tight collaboration with the Data Science Manager to translate business needs into feasible, impactful data strategies. You’ll lead conversations with client and marketing teams, support delivery operations, and own the end-to-end presentation of data science outputs. This role is built for someone with data strategy fluency, exceptional communication skills, and a natural ability to bring clarity and confidence to complex analytics work.
Bringing our core values — Curiosity, Fearlessness, Teamwork and Leadership — to life will be critical to the success of this individual.
Location:
Candidates must be located in Illinois, Texas, Colorado, or Michigan. For individuals based in our Michigan and Illinois locations, this will be a hybrid role, requiring both in-office and remote work. For candidates in Texas and Colorado, this position will be fully remote.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cross-Functional Strategy & Project Scoping
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align on strategic intent/opportunities with clients, identify deliverables, consulting on timelines, and manage and communicate against stakeholder expectations.
- Partner with the Data Science Manager to build feasible strategies that align with business objectives, appropriate deliverables, and realistic timelines.
- Participate in scoping and planning calls with Marketing Services (MS) and Client Services (CS) to fully understand requests, contribute to solution design, and shape expectations.
- Jointly confirm project timelines, resource needs, and deliverable definitions post-sale to ensure alignment between teams.
- Finalize and communicate project scopes in partnership with the Data Science Manager, ensuring expectations are clearly documented and agreed upon.
Analytics Delivery & Communication
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on standard and recurring analytics projects.
- Present everyday deliverables to clients and internal partners with confidence and clarity, ensuring they understand the business impact of the outputs.
- Translate technical data science work into business-friendly, client-ready decks and summaries that highlight key insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate with the Data Science Manager to ensure all deliverables leaving DSS meet quality standards and are approved before presenting to senior leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement & Operational Oversight
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal teams and external clients, ensuring satisfaction and proactive communication.
- Monitor internal collaboration platforms (e.g., project boards, Confluence, Jira) and respond to relevant updates, questions, or blockers.
- Escalate issues, timeline risks, or ambiguities to senior analytics leaders when appropriate.
- Support implementation of new project tracking tools and communication workflows to enhance collaboration between DSS, MS, and CS teams.
Leadership & Growth Enablement
- Oversee the development of final deliverables and presentation materials, refining language and formatting to ensure clarity and polish.
- Help drive process improvements that enhance transparency, efficiency, and quality across analytics engagements.
- Should the team scale, manage an additional Strategist and/or Project Manager to support delivery operations and communication workflows.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
- 5+ years of experience in data strategy, client services, or operational roles that require managing analytics deliverables and cross-functional alignment.
- Strong understanding of marketing and media analytics use cases, even if not hands-on with technical implementation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills—able to translate complexity into clarity.
- Proven experience managing project timelines, resources, and expectations across internal teams.
- High comfort level working in collaborative, fast-paced environments and balancing competing priorities.
- Experience working closely with data science or analytics teams, with the ability to confidently discuss methods such as segmentation, modeling, or data filtering.
- Familiarity with Agile tools or collaboration platforms (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
