Senior Data Scientist

daa Labs is seeking a Senior Data Scientist (SDS) to join our team. The SDS will report to the Data Product Development & Insights Manager, who reports to the Head of Data & Analytics. This high-visibility role offers the opportunity to tackle a diverse range of analytics challenges and make a significant impact through daa’s analytics portfolios.
The role is tasked with partnering with key business stakeholders, daa Labs and the data analytics teams to develop data products and services that unlock opportunities for revenue growth, operational efficiencies, and improved customer & passenger experience. The SDS will be responsible for the scoping, design and delivery of analytics projects that enable daa to deliver scalable solutions for our business.
We are looking for an experienced thought leader in the application of advanced analytics, statistics and data mining techniques, who has the capability to work across the full daa business portfolio, including Finance, HR, ESG, airport operations, local & international retail businesses, Digital and Commercial portfolios.
We are looking for experience in all aspects of the design, development and delivery of analytics solutions, including problem definition, data exploration and visualisation, building, evaluating and deploying solutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for analytics, strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills.
This role will be awarded on a personal contract basis.
- Analytics Solution Development: Work on all aspects of the design, development, and delivery of analytics solutions, including problem definition, data exploration and visualisation, building, evaluating, and deploying models.
- Data Product Development: Lead the development of data products across portfolios, conduct ideation workshops to identify high-value opportunities, perform exploratory data analysis to inform requirements, prioritise tasks, and build robust, scalable data products.
- Framework Creation: Contribute to a consistent framework for data product development to enable agility, faster time to insight, quality delivery, and trusted, reliable data products at an enterprise scale.
- Advanced Data Analysis: Utilise data cleansing and preparation, statistics, machine learning, and other advanced data analysis techniques to collect, explore, and extract insights from diverse datasets.
- Novel Analytics Techniques: Apply new and novel advanced analytics techniques to daa’s data assets to generate value for the entire business, such as predictive modelling, customer segmentation, optimisation, and what-if scenario analysis.
- Deep Dive Analysis: Perform deep dive analysis to identify opportunities for revenue growth, operational efficiencies, and improved customer and passenger experiences.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow data scientists, business analysts, and business subject matter experts to design and develop effective data science solutions.
- Roadmap Management: Work closely with the Data Product Development & Insights, Data Engineering, and BI & Data Governance teams to manage business unit roadmaps, ensuring projects are prioritised to maximise value from data.
- Strategic Program Direction: Provide direction and design for strategic business programs, ensuring analytics requirements are captured and data visualisations are in place to support informed decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous analytics improvement to advance data literacy across the organisation.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in advanced analytics and data science roles, preferably dealing with diverse types of data - customer, transactional, operational, financial, geospatial.
Skills
- Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of data product management and advanced analytics techniques used in the process of collecting, storing, and retrieving data (e.g., SQL, Python, ).
- Expert knowledge of advanced visualisation techniques, reporting tools, analytical deep dives, and data modelling (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc).
- Previous experience using MS Cloud technologies (e.g., Azure platform, Synapse, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps).
- Previous experience using DataBricks desirable.
- Previous experience with ML Ops processes desirable.
- Previous experience designing and developing data products for enterprise use.
- Excellent ability to analyse, assimilate, and interpret large amounts of data and make recommendations quickly and effectively.

- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade others to think differently.
- Regular experience and exposure in influencing senior business stakeholders and the ability to build strong networks.

- Project Management:
- Experience with Agile project management methodologies and delivery experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise workstack with a results-based focus on pragmatic delivery for the business.
Formal Education Qualification
- Hold a relevant primary degree in a relevant field of study - mathematics, computer science, statistics, etc.
