The opportunity 

At Hitachi Energy Semiconductors we develop and manufacture quality power semiconductor devices for advancing the world's energy system to be more sustainable, flexible and secure. Our broad portfolio serves a diverse range of customers operating in several markets like Renewables, Energy Transmission and Distribution, Traction and e-Mobility.

Step into the Process and Test Engineering team at BiMOS Backend, and gain first hand experience of developing our production. You will work on the development and productivity monitoring of the inspection devices.

Internship duration is 6 months, with the possibility to extend.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Collaborate on development and automation projects with equipment suppliers, product engineering, quality, and R&D departments

  • Be the main responsible during the Ramp-Up in production for new soldering quality inspection tools (X-RAY and SAM)

  • Creation a well-documented instruction package (Working Instructions for operators, Testing procedures for engineers, Troubleshooting sheet for maintenance)

  • Develop SPC running charts

  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis to maintain and enhance production throughput
     

Your background 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in material sciences, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, or similar discipline (B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree internship and/or thesis)

  • Fundamentals of Design of Experiments (DoE), data analysis, Six Sigma, and production statistics

  • Experience with soldering inspection methodologies, X-RAY and Scanning Acoustic Microscope (SAM) inspection tools for semiconductor purposes is a plus

  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team and proactive hands-on mentality

  • Know-how in data analysis tools and statistics is advantageous (Power-Bi, Minitab) - Python coding is a plus

  • Fluent in English, German at min B1 level
