We are looking for AI specialists to strengthen our team and to work on user support, training, and customer projects leveraging modern deep learning models on our supercomputing facilities. Our projects include supporting the training and use of large open language and foundation models, and developing customer solutions for using cutting-edge AI tools and software. LUMI AI Factory utilizes the LUMI supercomputer, one of the world’s leading platforms for AI offering unique opportunities and challenges in parallelizing and scaling large deep learning workloads. In addition to your core technical responsibilities, you may contribute to designing and leading training activities such as courses, workshops, or hackathons.

Your areas of interest may include specific subfields of AI, such as natural language processing, computer vision, or reinforcement learning. Depending on your background, you could also possess experience in software development, machine learning engineering, or data management. You have a self-motivated approach to working and enthusiasm for professional development. You enjoy collaborating with customers and colleagues from diverse backgrounds, ranging from researchers to companies within the AI sector. Requirements

What we expect:

Your skill profile could involve experience in topics including: 

• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with AI and ML

• Familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow)

• Knowledge of (or desire to build skills in) large-scale model training, debugging, finetuning, execution, or evaluation

• Experience in high-performance computing (e.g. Slurm, Apptainer) and Linux

• Proven experience in planning, organizing, and delivering training programs and lectures

Further skills considered an asset include:

• Software engineering methods and tools

• MLops

• Data governance and management practices

• Trustworthy AI

A Master’s or PhD in a relevant field is seen as an asset. Good communication skills in verbal and written English are essential for teamwork and collaboration with our customers. Experience of working as part of international multi-partner projects is also considered a benefit.

The LUMI AI Factory produces a cutting-edge infrastructure designed to bolster Europe's leadership in AI by seamlessly integrating world-class computing power, high-value data, and a Service Center with top-tier talent to support the rapid development of AI solutions and AI-driven projects. In a nutshell, it handles the entire AI lifecycle, starting from data itself. Our vision is to create a comprehensive and accessible service infrastructure that empowers AI start-ups, SMEs, researchers, and other public and private users to develop innovative European AI models and applications. By leveraging the established LUMI ecosystem and expanding it with new AI-focused features, we will foster a thriving AI community that transcends borders and sectors.
