Title: BI Developer - P3

Location: Remote Canada

Reports To: Director, Data Visualization and QA

The Role:  

As part of the Data Visualization & QA team, the Data Visualization & QA Analyst is responsible for creating and maintaining reports that drive data quality and analytics solutions for external customers and internal business users. The successful candidate will have a passion for data, and an attention to detail to roll out maintenance and updates while ensuring that each version of our external reports is accurate and meets all end-user needs. While our team focuses on the right tool to do the job, this role will specialize in ThoughtSpot, but also gain exposure and experience in Tableau, Palantir, SQL, AWS, and other tools. Team cross collaboration, communication, organization, timeliness, as well as excellent attention to detail are key for this role. 

 

The Impact You Will Have in This Role: 

Our data products will directly support the Data & Analytics division. The internal dashboards and QA will enhance the functionality of other teams, while the external products produce revenue and create solutions for the automotive industry. 

What You'll Be Doing in This Role: 

  • Maintain and iterate on existing external BI products 
  • Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, product team, and internal customers to maintain data integrity and QA enhancements to products 
  • Product ownership of client facing dashboards 
  • Analyze all maintenance with QA and numerical fluency in mind 
  • Analyze large amounts of data and build interactive visualizations to help drive business decisions and enhance QA processes 
  • Build proof of concept visualizations and iterate quickly 
  • Collaborate cross functionally with BI developers as well as other business units 
  • Ad-hoc data analysis, QA, and reporting 

 

Qualifications of this Role: 

  • Proficiency with ThoughtSpot, Tableau Desktop, Palantir or other comparable BI tools 
  • 2+ years of professional experience creating BI dashboards 
  • 2+ years of experience with database software (RedShift, SQL, MYSQL, …) 
  • Experience with publishing and maintaining interactive BI dashboards 
  • Professional experience creating complex custom calculations and aggregations within BI tools 
  • Deep understanding of formatting to recreate and maintain the JD Power look in BI tools 
  • Ability to translate product requirements and maintenance requests into live dashboards with designated launch timing 
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to interact across teams and ensure data and business gaps are addressed promptly 
  • A passion for using data visualization to tell complex data stories 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, CS, Engineering or related field  

 

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience working with automotive data 
  • Proficiency with data-oriented programming in Python (numpy, pandas, … ) 
  • ThoughtSpot certification and/or Jedi skill level 
  • Some shareable Public examples or other data visualizations you have created
