Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager - Health Information Services, the Data Integrity Analyst is responsible for ensuring data is accurate, reliable and properly managed within health information systems to promote high quality patient care. This includes interpreting data from health information applications, conducting statistical analyses, and managing data. The incumbent oversees training and mentoring, conducts audits for data compliance, assists in the development of policies, procedures, and standards to support data integrity across the region and departments.

 

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in a health information services environment with a focus on health information data management and the promotion of data quality and integrity.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience using Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) applications.
  • Recent relevant experience assisting with application administration and support as it applies to the health care environment and the continuum of care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with Cognos report writing.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of a Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) recognized program for Health Information Management Professionals.
  • Certificate in Cognos report writing an asset.
  • Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Certified with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of software and information system applications (e.g. Electronic Patient Record (EPR), Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) system, Chart Tracking, Scheduling, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application, (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as Internet Applications.
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation including but not limited to privacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver education sessions through various means.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate multiple computer programs simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated accurate spelling and grammar skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to display independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job, including occasional lifting and reaching, including use of a step stool or ladder.
  • Prolonged sitting at a workstation.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
