Zurich North America is hiring a Data Scientist Analyst to join our Specialties Team in our Schaumburg office. We are open to hiring talent located within a commutable distance to any ZNA office location to benefit from our flexible, hybrid working arrangements.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Utilize established financial systems to track budgets and highlight variances
  • Develop simple business cases for defined projects in own area of IT expertise
  • Prepare draft manuals based on the accepted changes to IT policies and procedures
  • Look externally to research primary data sources, select relevant information, and continually evaluate key themes in technology
  • Identify existing IT assets for new opportunities where possible
  • Act as technical expert in a specific process or product area, conducting process reviews and initiating change in order to contribute to continuous improvement of services to internal customers.
  • Provide specialist advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients
  • Contribute to the delivery of assigned IT projects in own area of expertise for specific lines of business
  • Record and report core metrics, and ensure internal partners and vendors meet defined policies/SLAs (service level agreements) on information management.
  • Work with colleagues across the IT function to ensure plans are aligned to functional DR&BC plans and policy.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 2 or more years of experience in the transforming data and developing insights for use in business decision area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 4 or more years of experience in the transforming data and developing insights for use in business decision area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 2 or more years of experience in the transforming data and developing insights for use in business decision area
    AND
  • Experience applying data transformation techniques such as exact and probabilistic matching methods; fuzzy matching, text mining, and data reduction
     

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Masters Degree
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Experience with programming and database mining tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Java, SQL and Python

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $85,500.00 - $140,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
