We are looking for a Data Full Stack Developer to join the data team to help develop and further shape the analytics infrastructure to allow data and insight to be brought to heart of every decision within Modulr.

The role

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Full Stack Developer with strong expertise in Python, SQL, data extraction, and machine learning. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working across the data stack—from building pipelines and integrating APIs to developing analytical solutions and supporting ML workflows.

Companies are under mounting pressure to manage their cashflow, control their costs, comply with regulations and handle complex supplier, customer and employment payment arrangements. The key tasks of your role will include: 

•  Design and develop scalable data extraction pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Extract and integrate data from various sources, including APIs, internal databases, and third-party platforms.
• Implement robust web scraping solutions to gather structured and unstructured data from websites.
• Develop backend components for data processing and storage using modern frameworks.
• Build RESTful APIs and services for internal and external data consumption.
• Collaborate with data scientists to support the development and deployment of machine learning models. Optimize database queries and ETL processes for performance and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.

About You: To join us as a data engineer, you’ll need: 

• Proven experience in independently delivering end-to-end solutions with minimal supervision.
• Strong ability to self-learn, adapt quickly to new tools, libraries, and data sources.
• Experience building API-based integrations, handling authentication, pagination, and large datasets.
• Solid understanding of data wrangling, feature engineering, and preprocessing techniques to support ML workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to write production-ready Python code for automation, data extraction, and analytics.
• Familiarity with automated web scraping best practices, including managing dynamic content and rate limits.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments with a focus on getting things done efficiently.

Specific Skills

• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in libraries such as requests, BeautifulSoup, pandas, NumPy, etc.
• Proficient in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
• Hands-on experience with data extraction via APIs (REST, GraphQL).
• Experience in web scraping techniques and tools (e.g., Beautiful Soup, Scrapy, Selenium).
• Basic understanding of machine learning workflows and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
