The Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) is on the forefront of protecting the breadth of Microsoft’s customers from emerging threats to security and privacy.  The MSRC Data Science team is responsible in building data pipelines, reporting dashboards, data engineering, data pipelines, Machine Learning (ML) models and insights on security related data. We combine our data science work with business and engineering knowledge to provide unique insights into customer scenarios within Security.  Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Responsibilities

As a Data and Applied Scientist, you will:• Write clean code with a strong emphasis on well-thought-out design, focusing on quality, security, simplicity, and maintainability.• Prioritizes the customer's perspective and experience when designing systems.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions from the initial envisioning phase to deployment and live site reliability, with a particular emphasis on automation and DevOps practices.• Drive improvements through design reviews, code reviews, and test case reviews, integrating DevOps principles.• Adapt to new technologies, tools, methods, and processes from Microsoft and the industry, while applying DevOps best practices.• Contribute to driving future state architecture changes within the group, considering scalability, reliability, security, and automation.• Enhances service fundamentals, including capacity planning, performance, reliability, and monitoring, with a focus on continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).• Serves as a role model for Microsoft Values and DevOps principles through your behaviors and actions.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results.
• OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results).
• OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results).
• OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience in Azure Synapse, Kusto, building CI/CD pipelines, PowerBI.
• 1+ years of experience in Python, Azure SQL database, Kusto (Azure Data Explorer), Azure ML, Azure Key Vault, Azure Storage or similar.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results.
• OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results).
• OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results).
• OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience in AI/ML, LLM, GPT models
• 1+ years of experience with Azure Machine Learning, Azure Fabric, Azure Synapse, or similar platforms.
• 1+ years of experience understanding of data versioning, governance, and reproducibility in ML workflows.
• 1+ years of experience of knowledge of responsible AI practices, including fairness, transparency, and bias mitigation.
• Communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 

 

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
