Job Description
About the Role
As the Data Governance Manager, you are responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data ownership, policies, controls, standards, and practices across the organisation. This role will provide clarity on data accuracy, privacy, protection, and responsibility, helping to enable more accurate and efficient data-driven decisions within our Group. You will play a critical role in improving data literacy across the organisation, working closely with data owners, data stewards, the data platform team and data subject matter experts embedding data ownership and ensuring adherence to relevant policies.
You will maintain a strong connection to our Group purpose of ‘connecting our communities with a better financial future.’ You will work in collaboration with the wider Groups’ management community. You will embrace & promote our culture that is focused on being creative, courageous, collaborative, efficient and accountable.
About You
As an experienced Data Governance Manager, you will have a strong track record of championing best practices in Data Governance across an organisation. You will be confident in deploying governance standards organisational wide and through a central data platform and have hands-on experience in producing and bringing to life Data Governance policies. Your ability to influence and drive adoption of these standards at both team and organisational levels will be key, as will your experience in presenting with clarity and impact to senior stakeholders.
Holding relevant certifications such as DAMA DMBOK Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), or Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP) would be advantageous. Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies such as Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview, Stibo, and SQL for data manipulation is beneficial, alongside a sound understanding of current data privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and others relevant to the financial industry. A basic understanding of machine learning or AI would also be an asset, as these technologies increasingly influence modern data management.
While not essential, prior experience in line management is preferred.
