Job Description

Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore Wind, Offshore Wind and Large-Scale Solar and Batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation and solar and battery installations in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

This position is located in the Strategy & Market Intelligence team within the Partnerships & Business Transformation department, which is responsible for shaping the overall strategic direction of Business Area Wind. The team is proactively identifying and advising on relevant strategic topics to support decision makers in steering our renewables business towards the Vattenfall purpose. We require a working student to support the market analysis work as well as the day-to-day business with a focus on creating quantitative, data-driven insights and working on improving our market intelligence tools and data landscape. The role will involve working closely with the team as well as exposure to the many different activities happening in BA Wind. Other Strategy & Market Intelligence team members provide direction, guidance and regular feedback.

What do we expect from you as a Working Student in BA Wind Strategy & Market Intelligence?

Key responsibilities:

  • Support and conduct market research and analysis by collecting and structuring market information and market data through desk research, studies, participation in webinars, etc.
  • Identify and understand business/market trends, incl. regulatory, supplier and competitor developments, derive potential strategic consequences and create quantitative insights on market developments using tools such as PowerPoint, Power BI, Python.
  • Development of new approaches to our market intelligence landscape, including data storage and visualisation set up, collection of requirements and support in implementing data feeds.
  • Expansion, maintenance and optimization/automation of our market intelligence deliverables, platforms (Sharepoint) and channels (MS Teams, VivaEngage).
  • Support creation of market intelligence newsletter.
  • Maintenance of our market intelligence subscriptions and prospect assessment of new subscriptions to external data sources and service providers.

Qualifications

  • You are studying business, data science and/or STEM subjects, ideally with exposure to data management and data visualisation.
  • Knowledge about renewable energies and other energy-related areas is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to market research is a plus.
  • Experience with Python and MS Power BI.
  • Your English communication skills are strong, both verbally and written. Knowledge of another European language, especially German, Dutch, Danish or Swedish, can be an advantage. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) is required.
  • Experience with data science/analytics and data reporting is desirable. You are passionate about data and understand its value to strategic decision making.
  • You have a structured way of working and are performance-oriented with ability to prioritise.
  • You are highly motivated, communicative, proactive and you enjoy working in a team.
  • You ask for help and guidance when needed and think beyond the task at hand, making suggestions wherever you see room for improvement.
  • You have a valid “Immatrikulationsbescheinigung” (enrolment certificate) for the full duration of your working period with Vattenfall as of the starting date.

More Information 

  • Start date: as soon as possible, preferably 1st July 2025.
  • Working time: 20 hours per week, up to 37 hours during non-lecture periods, upon prior agreement.
  • Duration: 1 year target duration with the possibility to extend.
