JOB SUMMARY:

We’re seeking a highly capable  Data Science Manager to lead and support a high-performing team of data scientists in delivering analytics solutions across marketing, media, and digital transformation initiatives. This hybrid role blends  project leadership, technical execution, and strategic collaboration—ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of analytics, operations, and client success.

This role is equal parts  team manager, analytics expert, and  translator of complexity into clarity—ensuring that all work is actionable, accurate, and aligned with business goals. The Data Science Manager also plays a key role in partnering with Strategy Operations and cross-functional teams to align on deliverables, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.

Bringing our core values — Curiosity, Fearlessness, Teamwork and Leadership — to life will be critical to the success of this individual.

Location:

Candidates must be located in Illinois, Texas, Colorado, or Michigan. For individuals based in our Michigan and Illinois locations, this will be a hybrid role, requiring both in-office and remote work. For candidates in Texas and Colorado, this position will be fully remote.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership & Project Oversight

  • Manage and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering engagement, development, and high performance.
  • Assign project resources based on scope, timelines, and capabilities, ensuring optimal delivery and workload balance.
  • Oversee all analytics work developed within the Data Science Science and Strategy (DSS), ensuring quality before senior review.
  • Guide the team through delivery review cycles with senior analytics leaders, gaining independence over time.
  • Escalate project issues or blockers to analytics leadership as needed for resolution.

Collaboration & Strategic Partnership

  • Partner closely with Strategy Operations to build feasible strategies with realistic deliverables and timelines.
  • Finalize project scope and timing in collaboration with strategy, ensuring alignment before execution.
  • Participate in calls with Marketing Services and Client Services teams to understand project goals, clarify requests, and contribute meaningfully to scoping and planning discussions.
  • Translate data science outputs into client-ready deliverables that clearly communicate key findings and implications.

Execution & Technical Expertise

  • Actively contribute to technical project work—designing models, executing list pulls, running segmentation, and conducting exploratory analyses.
  • Maintain rigorous standards for data integrity, model validation, and QA across all deliverables.
  • Monitor internal project boards and respond to relevant updates or requests to ensure progress stays on track.
  • Develop and share best practices for documentation, quality control, and analytical reproducibility.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years of experience in applied data science or analytics, including at least 2 years managing teams or projects.
  • Proven success leading analytics projects from scoping through delivery, particularly in client-facing or agency environments.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Deep knowledge of marketing analytics, including segmentation, targeting, predictive modeling, and measurement.
  • Ability to communicate complex methodologies and results clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in marketing services, data-driven media, CRM analytics, GIS analytics or data product development.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake) and tools such as Databricks.
  • Knowledge of Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and workflows.

The hiring range for this discipline within our industry is $110,000 to $130,000. Where an employee is paid within this range will depend on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, years of experience, education, internal pay structure, and other contributing factors.
