We have an opening for a Data Scientist to focus on leveraging our data to build machine learning models and to improve existing ones to enhance our product offering. This person will have the opportunity to work with bespoke tools designed for data collection, processing, and analysis, primarily using Python, a state-of-the-art Data Warehouse and AWS Technologies.
This role will carry significant responsibilities, exciting challenges, and the opportunity to make a considerable difference in a fast-growing company, where the output of Data Science tasks directly correlates to the company’s overall revenue performance.
The successful candidate will be expected to perform and have a positive impact on a broad range of tasks. The Data Scientist will:
- Work closely with many other roles and departments as to quickly gain a comprehensive knowledge of the business and the data sets available within the organisation.
- Work on a range of machine learning tasks such as: regression modelling, ranking, timeseries forecasting, NLP, anomaly detection, …
- Productionise models and code that operate across 50+ industry leading websites to deliver clear insights that drive action.
- Take ownership of existing and new python solutions and support their design, development, maintenance, and documentation.
- Run and perform continuous statistical analysis of A/B tests to determine the direct monetary impact of the models the team builds.
- Utilise cutting edge technologies to ensure data pipelines are using the best and most appropriate tools to achieve company goals.
- Ensure failures are minimised and corrected efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Execute ad hoc analysis and statistical inference to highlight issues and untapped potential in the data.
- Support implementation of internal processes to increase operational efficiency.
- Communicate analysis results to both technical and non-technical users.
- Work with a globally distributed team and be comfortable with slack/zoom for meetings and communication, and programming remotely.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a Data Science role.
- Experience using a wide variety of machine-learning models and a deep understanding of their differences and use cases.
- Strong development experience using python and SQL
- Experience building and maintaining machine learning pipelines using Python.
- Experience of working effectively in a distributed team environment.
- Experience working with a major Relational Database such as Snowflake, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.
- Demonstrable experience in data exploration and data visualisation
- Clear ability to work in teams, contribute to technical decisions and learn/suggest new technologies.
- Ability to be a creative problem solver with a solution-focused attitude.
- Comfortable with Git.
- Possess a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
- Document all code and features for maintainability.
- Experience of cloud-based databases (Snowflake) would be advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Experience with AWS is advantageous.
