Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or related field and four (4) years of related experience. Additional experience may NOT be used to offset the educational requirements. Grade 9 (Salaried)Position Description:
This position will provide advanced biostatistical expertise to support a broad spectrum of research within the University of Louisville (UofL) Health Brown Cancer Center (BCC). Areas of focus encompass basic science, translational, clinical, population health, and epidemiology studies. The role involves close collaboration with clinicians and biomedical researchers to design experiments and clinical trials, develop and implement statistical analysis plans, and construct diagnostic and predictive models using complex, multi-source data (e.g., omics, cytometry, clinical, and real-world data) — a particularly valuable aspect of the position. Key responsibilities include writing statistical programs, performing data analyses, preparing scientific reports, and contributing to grant proposals and research manuscripts. Additionally, the position entails developing novel statistical methods and tools, and engaging in methodological research to support the analysis of high-dimensional data generated from emerging technologies and diverse platforms. On-site work at the UofL Health Sciences Center is required.
Essential Duties:
Provide state-of-the-art biostatistical support in design, analysis, and dissemination of findings of a range of basic science, translational, clinical, population health, and epidemiology studies in BCC.
Collaborate with clinicians and biomedical researchers to develop statistical analysis plans, design experiments and clinical trials, monitor data collection processes, and analyze resulting data to achieve study goals.
Develop diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive models with partnership with clinicians and biomedical researchers, utilizing various data types (e.g., exposure/intervention data, cytometry data, omics data, clinical data, and real-world data) to support preclinical, translational, and clinical studies, including those in precision medicine.
Integrate data from multiple sources, including interventional treatments, high-dimensional omics data, imaging mass cytometry data, and clinical outcomes, to support biological mechanism studies, clinical and translational studies, and biomarker development.
Write statistical programs to implement tasks outlined in points 1-4, analyze data, prepare tables/figures for interim and final reports, and draft the methods and results sections of scientific reports and publications.
Develop statistical methods and tools, engage in methodological research to support the analysis of high-dimensional data generated from emerging technologies and diverse platforms, author scientific papers on statistical methods and algorithms developed, and continuously expand expertise in statistical techniques and software for training and research purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Training and/or practical expertise in data integration, high-dimensional data analysis, clinical trial design, and real-world data analytics
Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, with rigorous training and a strong theoretical background in (bio)statistics
Proficiency in statistical programming using R, Python, and SAS
Experience in analyzing modern, large-scale datasets such as omics data and spatial cytometry data
Experience contributing to open-source software projects
Ability to quickly adapt to new problems and challenges
Motivated to stay updated on the latest data science tools and learn new statistical techniques as needed
Proven excellence in statistical consulting and cross-disciplinary collaboration
Strong team player with the ability to work independently
Excellent oral and written communication skills
