  • Fantastic opportunity to join the Adaptation, Mitigation and Reconstruction division of the NSW Reconstruction Authority.
  • Temporary role up to December 2025 based in Parramatta with flexible work and hybrid options available.
  • Clerk Grade 7/8, base salary range ($110,266 - $122,058) plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

 
 
About the role 

As the GIS Data Analyst, you will be responsible for delivering spatial analysis for Disaster Adaptation Plans, to inform the various strategies and developments as well as support a range of cross-government projects and activities.

You will collect, manage, analyse and present complex spatial information, develop a range of spatial products and manage, maintain and response to queries related to the assets database to support projects, emergency management planning and the web-based flood information portal.

You will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient acquisition and analysis of spatial data and provide data management for the GIS database in consultation with the GIS Spatial Manager to ensure data integrity, accuracy and completeness to inform GIS project activities.

About you

The successful candidate will have sound program and project management experience and possess high level problem solving and communication skills. You will have the ability to balance and adapt to competing priorities and complete tasks with the highest level of accuracy. You will have strong relationship management skills to build a rapport with key stakeholders to deliver outcomes and expert analyst skills to identify key actions, risks and opportunities in the spatial data.
 
The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate the following key knowledge and experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the ESRI suite including creating quality maps, performing data capture and spatial analysis.
  • Generating asset data bases, producing 3D visualisations, and using programming languages such as Visual Basic and Python with GIS software to automate tasks.
  • Experience with Network Analyst and spatial databases such as SQL Server or Oracle Spatial.

 

In addition to this, you will also meet the following essential requirements: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area or equivalent skills and experience in GIS data management role.

 


About the Agency 
 The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) is an executive agency of the Premier’s Department. The RA will improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities to recover from them faster. 
To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the RA will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses, and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
