Axle is seeking a Jr. Data Science Engineer to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Cancer Institute (NCI) located in Rockville, MD.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of software using a variety of languages (ex, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, etc.)

• Working with web development with NodeJS and Angular.

• Designing new features and performance enhancements for existing systems.

• Participate in testing and fixing bugs in existing written codes

• Creating or adding to existing application programming interfaces (APIs)

• Gaining on-site work experience at various locations within the NIH.

 

Skills we’d love for you to have (but not required):

•  Understanding of Angular, Node.js and Bootstrap within a dynamic content environment

• Familiarity with RESTful web services, Test automation, agile development and SCRUM.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Persuing or have obtained a Bachelor's,  Master’s, PhD, or Post-Doc in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
• Able to work 40 hours/week
• Ability to work independently, just as well as with general supervision
• Ability to work in a team environment with changing priorities.
• Skilled in a scripting languages (Javascript/Typescript dramatically preferred)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.

Salary Range$85,000—$90,000 USD
