About the Role

The Wholesale Credit Platform (WCP) Data & Analytics team provides a critical service in driving strategic data insights, advanced analytics, and automation to support decision-making and critical reporting across ANZ’s Institutional Banking divisions. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will combine deep analytical expertise with data engineering capabilities to lead strategic data reporting initiatives, mentor junior analysts, and enhance our self-service analytics capabilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with senior stakeholders, drive innovation, lead and manage a team of data analysts and shape the data strategy for Wholesale Credit platform.

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will have the following accountabilities:

• Straegic Data Insights & Analytics: Lead deep-dive analyses on complex datasets to uncover trends, drive data-informed decisions, and provide actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders. Proactively identify opportunities to improve credit risk management, portfolio performance, and operational efficiency. This role requires the ability to navigate business complexities, conduct independent deep dives into data, and generate insights without relying on external guidance.

• Advanced Data Modelling, Engineering & Automation: Develop and optimize data models, scalable data pipelines to improve data accessibility and processing efficiency. Implement best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and automation. Drive the adoption of cloud-based data solutions.

• Data Storytelling & Visualization: Develop high-impact dashboards and self-serve analytics solutions using Qlik Sense or similar tools. Ensure data-driven insights are presented in a clear, compelling manner to influence business decisions.

• Strong Business & Functional Understanding: Develop a deep knowledge of Institutional Banking, Wholesale Credit, and Risk Management processes to provide meaningful insights. The role requires an ability to connect the dots across complex business functions and interpret data in the correct business context without constant guidance from stakeholders.

• Data Governance & Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce best practices for data accuracy, consistency, and governance. Ensure metadata, lineage, and mappings adhere to enterprise standards. Develop frameworks for data validation and anomaly detection

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Technical Mastery: Over 10 years of hands-on experience in data analytics and engineering using SQL, Python, and R for data manipulation, automation, and insight generation. Strong command over ETL processes, data modelling, and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure. Exposure to AI/ML solutions for advanced analytics.

• Advanced Visualization Skills: Expertise in developing executive-level dashboards using Qlik Sense and other BI tools with a focus on usability, storytelling, and business impact.

• Deep Business & Functional Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Institutional/Wholesale Banking, credit risk, and data-driven decision-making. Able to independently analyze complex business processes, identify key data elements, and generate actionable insights.

• Stakeholder Influence & Communication: Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders, translate complex analytical findings into simple, impactful narratives, and support high-level strategic decisions.

• Data Governance & Compliance: Strong grasp of data governance principles and regulatory compliance in the financial services industry. Experienced in establishing data quality frameworks and enforcing data management standards.

• Leadership & Team Development: 2–3 years of experience mentoring junior analysts, leading cross-functional collaboration, and cultivating a high-performance data culture within teams.
