Job Title: Data Governance Analyst
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Department: Data Governance & Protection
Reports To: Head of Data Governance & Protection
Job Purpose:
The Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to a data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices. The role involves overseeing data governance activities, ensuring data quality and integrity, and fostering a data-driven culture within the organization.

Job Purpose:
The Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to a data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices. The role involves overseeing data governance activities, ensuring data quality and integrity, and fostering a data-driven culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Governance Framework:
- Develop and implement a data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards to ensure effective data management across the organization.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Data Quality and Integrity:
- Monitor and ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of data across various systems and databases.
- Implement data quality metrics and KPIs and conduct regular data audits and assessments.
- Address data quality issues and work with relevant teams to resolve them promptly.
- Data Stewardship:
- Act as a liaison between business units and IT to promote data stewardship and data ownership.
- Educate and train employees on data governance principles and practices.
- Facilitate the establishment of data stewardship roles and responsibilities within the organization.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with data-related regulations, policies, and standards, including data privacy and security.
- Identify data-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry trends.
- Data Governance Council:
- Coordinate and support the activities of the Data Governance Council, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting outcomes.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and decision-making on data governance matters.
- Data Management Tools:
- Evaluate and recommend data management tools and technologies to support data governance initiatives.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data governance tools.
- Reporting and Analytics:
- Develop and maintain data governance reports and dashboards to provide insights into data quality and governance activities.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices.
- Experience with data quality management, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in data management tools and technologies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Leadership and team-building abilities.
- Proactive and results-oriented mindset.
