Context: Following our Series A, we are growing our team to meet global demand and expand our product offerings. We’re hiring a Vice President (VP) of Engineering to lead the next phase of scale in product development and technical innovation. Reporting to the CTO and co-founder, this leader will shape our technical strategy, manage a growing engineering team (currently ~15 FTEs), and help us scale our AI-native SaaS platform to hundreds of organizations globally.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As VP of Engineering, your mission will be to build and lead a world-class engineering organization capable of shipping scalable, secure, and elegant solutions in a high-stakes legal and scientific environment.

• Strategic Leadership
  • Define and execute the technical vision in alignment with DeepIP’s product and business roadmap
  • Shape architecture choices and infrastructure to support fast experimentation and long-term scale
  • Ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement across engineering functions
• Team Leadership
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent (across full-stack, ML, infra/devops)
  • Structure the engineering organization and scale from 15 to 40+ over the next 18 months
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative culture
• Execution Excellence
  • Drive delivery across product modules (e.g., drafting, prosecution, invention harvesting, claim charting, prior art analysis)
  • Collaborate closely with Product, and Business teams
  • Implement and continuously refine engineering processes, QA practices, and deployment pipelines
• Innovation and Risk Management
  • Stay at the forefront of LLM and AI infrastructure evolution
  • Lead build vs buy decisions, ensure data security, and manage technical debt intelligently
  • Represent engineering leadership in due diligence, client interactions, and board meetings

ABOUT YOU

Must-Have:

• Engineering degree from a top institution (X, Centrale, ENS, Mines, EPFL…)
• 10+ years’ experience, with 4+ years managing and scaling high-performing software teams
• Proven ability to lead complex SaaS product development (ideally in AI/LLM-heavy contexts)
• Deep knowledge of modern web technologies (Node.js, React, Typescript), cloud infra, and security best practices
• Track record of structuring teams, mentoring engineers, and owning delivery of core systems
• Strong product sense and ability to align engineering with user needs and business priorities
• Fluent English (French is a plus)

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with AI/ML workflows, especially using OpenAI, Hugging Face, or vector databases
• Familiarity with legaltech or regulated data environments (IP, finance, healthcare, defense)
• Knowledge of MLOps, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and scalable LLM deployment practices
