The Role

As a Data Engineer supporting Audit, your primary focus will be on transforming and refining of audit processes through the integration of advanced analytics. Your role is instrumental in supporting our technology transformation and strategic initiatives. By leveraging your expertise, you will contribute to increased automation, improved efficiency, and elevated data quality, directly benefiting our audit business and clients. Your work will play a pivotal role in saving time and costs while uncovering untapped value within our data resources, ensuring a more streamlined and insightful audit experience. Responsibilities

• Extracting financial and operational data from various sources, including ERP systems, databases, spreadsheets, and other relevant platforms
• Cleaning and transforming raw data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with auditing standards. This involves handling missing or inconsistent data and standardizing formats.
• Developing and maintaining data models that align with the audit requirements. This includes designing structures that support analytical procedures and facilitate the identification of anomalies or irregularities.
• Managing databases and data warehouses that store audit-related information securely. This involves designing efficient database structures and ensuring data integrity.
• Building and optimising ETL (extract, transform, load) processes to facilitate the flow of data from source systems to the auditing platform, ensuring that data is appropriately transformed and loaded for analysis.
• Implementing measures to assess and ensure the quality of audit data. This may involve the creation of data quality checks and validation procedures to identify and address discrepancies.
• Developing automated solutions for repetitive data-related tasks, improving efficiency in data processing and analysis. This may include scripting or programming to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
• Working closely with auditors to understand their data requirements, providing technical support, and facilitating access to relevant data sources.
• Optimizing data processing and retrieval systems for performance. This includes tuning queries, indexing, and other strategies to enhance the speed and efficiency of data access during the auditing process.
• Documenting data engineering processes, data models, and any changes made to the data infrastructure. This documentation is critical for transparency, audit trail purposes, and knowledge transfer within the team.

Skills and experience

• Experience in several or all of the areas described above, in particular will require extensive knowledge of the KIP strategic platform.
• Experience in architecting, designing and implementing solutions in the Microsoft Azure stack using technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services and Power BI
• Skilled in data modelling across both operational (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) use cases
• Experience of Alteryx and AWS platform stacks is an advantage
• Experience of working across end-to-end software development, technology or consulting projects (strategy, discovery, design, development and deployment)
• Experience explaining complex processes and circumstances in technical and non-technical terms to ensure all understand
• A talent for clear, concise communication and getting your point across, both verbal and in written format
• Experience in working with Agile methodologies
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, handle quickly changing priorities, and be capable of managing yourself to achieve maximum results
• Strong stakeholder management with a history of building solid relationships with customers and team members
• Strong people skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
