Job Summary

The Data Management and Governance team within the Chief Analytics Office (CAO) provides a central data management service to the organisation. This role defines and oversees the implementation of the capabilities that enable these services and coordinates the adoption thereof by the organization. In addition to implementation oversight, this role will also drive change and communication plans across internal and external stakeholders.

Job Description

• Define and oversee execution of the EDM Strategy.
• Define a holistic EDM adoption plan to accelerate time to value from EDM as part of the strategy.
• Prioritised roadmap in support of the EDM Strategy, incorporating capabilities & enablement, including internal book of work planning, as well as funding interlock and resourcing plans for central and federated change initiatives.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive EDM portfolio delivery plan in alignment with the strategy, including scope, prioritization, schedule, resource allocation, risk management, and budget oversight and liaise with the CAO Head of Change.
• Manage the end-to-end execution of all projects and initiatives in the EDM portfolio.
• Provide an advisory service to business teams and projects to determine if the department can help with the articulated business needs and the business readiness to adopt.
• Develop and execute a Change Management Strategy including communication and stakeholder management in support of the EDM portfolio, including working closely with the business and IT executives across the organisation.
• Maintain an EDM service catalogue & equip the CAO Business Engagement team to advise their business counterparts on the services and tools available from the Data Management and Governance team.
• Track and report on EDM portfolio delivery in terms of benefits and value realisation.
• Executive reporting on the EDM portfolio to compliance and management forums.
• Reporting into required executive forums such as board sub-committees.

Skills & Experience

• Prior experience with enterprise data management (data quality, reference data, metadata and data governance) is preferred.
• BSc Information Technology, or Risk Management or equivalent Diploma.
• Data management or data governance certifications and experience would be advantageous, including familiarity with the Data Management Associated body of knowledge or similar.
• Financial Services Industry experience.
• 5 years’ experience across compliance, risk or data.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with project, program and portfolio management.
• Successful track record with stakeholder management and change management.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate data-driven insights to both technical, non-technical and executive stakeholders.
• Infuses commercial acumen into strategy, change and communication outcomes.
• Impactful leadership and collaboration.
• Exposure to data-intensive regulatory initiatives such as BCBS239 or POPIA, as well as data security and data retention initiatives would be advantageous.
• Risk management fundamentals, preferably applied in an enterprise data management and project delivery context.

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
