Role Overview

The Genetics and Bioinformatics team within Lilly Neuroscience focuses on analyzing large-scale genetics and multi-omics data to uncover complex biological relationships, understand disease mechanisms, disease progression and translating multi-omics insights into actionable targets and biomarkers to accelerate the development of novel therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases and chronic pain. We are seeking a highly skilled bioinformatician with demonstrated experience in omics data analysis to join the UK Neuroscience Hub in Bracknell to advance our discovery efforts. This is a unique opportunity to grow your career in the pharmaceutical industry and contribute to impactful research in a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret multi-omics datasets (e.g., bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, WES/WGS) using advanced statistical and computational methods to uncover biological insights.
  • Contribute to the integration and interpretation of multimodal data, supporting target identification, disease stratification, and biomarker discovery.
  • Maintain and execute bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analysis of large-scale multi-omics data, ensuring reproducibility and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team and external partners to design experiments, create analysis plans, and deliver results into actionable hypotheses.
  • Maintain the integrity of data and analytics by following best practices in FAIR data principles, ensuring reproducibility, and thorough documentation.
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Curate and analyze datasets from internal, public, and consortia sources to enhance interpretation and contextualization of findings.

Essential skills:

  • Master’s degree in bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in omics data analysis (academic or industry).
  • Hands-on experience analyzing large-scale genomic and transcriptomic data (e.g., RNA-seq, single-cell, spatial, proteomics) using advanced statistical and computational approaches.
  • Proficient in scientific programming with R and/or Python, including the use of notebooks (e.g., R Markdown, Jupyter) for reproducible analysis.
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and with HPC or cloud-based computing platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, methods, and relevant databases (e.g., Ensembl, NCBI, UniProt, GEO, GTEx).
  • Proven experience working in multi-disciplinary teams with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and findings to a broader audience.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, omics technologies and statistics.
