Officer position responsible for the strategy and execution of cross enterprise data operations including data governance, third party data, platform strategy, change management, and enterprise data strategy.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

  • Sets strategy and drives execution for global data governance initiatives including Data Documentation, Data Quality, Data Access Control, Data Change Management, and Master Data Management, all to directly support organizational priorities. Drives the data strategy for the US region, including competitive intelligence, market scanning, and stakeholder engagement

  • Accountable for global third-party data strategy, including cost optimization, proof of concept development, and market scanning, in conjunction with partners in technology and procurement.

  • Supports change management for large data driven US initiatives, and coaches peer teams in best practices in change management.

  • Leads Business Intelligence (BI) Platform Strategy in partnership with senior leadership in technology.  Determines optimal portfolio of BI tools, manage licensing and expense strategy, supports change management, and priorities for new BI capabilities. 

  • Leads, directs and has full management responsibility for staff in areas of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.

  • Collaborates with business partners in Claim, Underwriting, Finance and other internal departments to ensure the achievement of continued profitability and/or growth objectives for product lines or segments.

  • Identifies and responds to emerging issues in the insurance, regulatory and legal climates.  Partners with appropriate leadership to determine course of action and develops and executes plans to meet objectives.  Provides support during business strategy planning process.

  • Fosters innovation and empowers others to take calculated risks and continuously improve skills, efficiency and quality of work.

  • Creates a culture of ownership and accountability to drive continuous improvement.

  • Remains current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity and trends.  May represent the company in industry trade groups.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

1.  Expert level technical knowledge of modeling and advanced working knowledge in other related fields.
2.  Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships), team and/or matrix environment.
3.  Proven strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
4.  Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
5.  Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.
6.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Education & Experience

1.  Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science or equivalent.
2.  Typically a minimum of 12 years of related experience in designing, developing, deploying and maintaining data/predictive models in a business setting or equivalent experience with seven years of management experience.
3.  Applicable certifications preferred.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $194,000 to $308,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
