Job Description

To ensure that Visa’s payment technology is truly available to everyone, everywhere requires the success of our key bank or merchant partners and internal business units.  The Internal AI & Data Science Practice group supports these partners by using our outstandingly rich data set that spans more than 3 billion cards globally and collects more than 100 billion transactions in a single year. Our focus lies on building creative solutions that have an immediate impact on the business of our highly analytical partners. We work in complementary teams comprising members from Data Science and various groups at Visa. To support our rapidly growing group we are looking for Senior Managers who are equally passionate about the opportunity to use Visa’s rich data to solve meaningful business problems.  You will join the Data Science team focused on improving our understanding of products and economic valuations, with an opportunity for rotation within Data Science to gain broad exposure to Visa’s business.

We are looking for a seasoned individual contributor who is comfortable engaging with business owners, data enthusiasts, and technology teams. Successful candidates have strong experience in developing complex data solutions for business intelligence applications. This role will be hands-on and focused on building data pipelines, business intelligence solutions at scale and with a focus on sustained operational excellence. 

Essential Functions

• Help improve Visa’s decision-making by making data more accessible and relevant to key partners
• Develop deep partnerships with engineering, finance, and product teams to deliver on major cross-functional solution development
• Guide team of talented data and analytics engineers with the ability to not only keep up with, but also pioneer, in this space.
• Create extract, transform, load (ETL) processes for easy ingestion and use
• Develop visualizations to make your sophisticated analyses accessible to a broad audience
• Find opportunities to create, automate and scale repeatable financial and statistical analysis
• Provide technical leadership in a team that generates business insights based on big data, identify impactful recommendations, and communicate the findings to clients
• Brainstorm innovative ways to use our unique data to answer business problems
• Collaborate with and influence leadership so that your teams work directly impacts company strategy and direction.
• Communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, including executives.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
•8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications
•9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
•Working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem and associated technologies, (For e.g. Apache Spark, MLlib, GraphX, iPython, sci-kit,Pandas etc.)
•Strong & progressive experience working with Global teams & Fortune 500 companies leading large scale implementations of data warehouses and data engineering solutions.
•Exposure to Financial Services/ Payments data analytics and ETL development. Desirable exposure to Marketing, Authorization, Fraud & Chargeback Analytics.
•Experience and expertise with data visualization using Tableau, Power BI or similar tools
•Experience in managing teams implementing ETL pipelines in Spark, Python, HIVE or SAS that process transaction and account level data and standardization of data pipelines.
•Advanced experience in writing and optimizing efficient SQL queries with Python, Spark, Hive, Scala handling Large Data Sets in Big-Data Environments.
•Experience with Unix/Shell and exposure to Scheduling tools like Oozie and Airflow.
•Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills needed to effectively communicate technical insights and recommendations with business customers and leadership team.
•Good business acumen to orient data analysis to business needs of clients.
•Ability to translate data and technical concepts into requirements documents, business cases and user stories.
•Ability to learn new tools and paradigms as data science continues to evolve at Visa and elsewhere.
•Demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, team oriented, energetic, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style.
•Previous experience with product valuations, financial engineering, customer lifetime values or net present value methodologies
•Intellectually curious and continuously striving to learn.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 148,300 to 253,200 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
