Job Summary

MycoWorks is seeking a Data Architect/Analyst with strong data science, analytical, and problem-solving skills to lead data integration and experimental analytics for the Innovation Center. This role transforms complex scientific and operational datasets into actionable insights that drive process improvement, product consistency, and technology discovery.

While the IT team will lead the development and deployment of broader infrastructure projects, this role will serve as a critical liaison, defining data requirements, ensuring alignment with scientific and operational needs, and translating those into scalable data solutions.

Responsibilities:

Data Architecture & Infrastructure Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the IT team to define data architecture requirements, ensuring alignment with operational and experimental needs.
  • Collaborate on system integrations — providing scientific and user input to guide development.
  • Work alongside IT to support infrastructure projects while focusing on use case articulation, quality, and scientific data relevance.

Data Science & Experimental Analytics

  • Conduct statistical and multivariate analyses to extract correlations, trends, and actionable insights from biological, process, and infrastructure datasets.
  • Apply machine learning and statistical modeling to support root cause analysis, hypothesis testing, and predictive monitoring.
  • Translate raw data into experimental insights that guide innovation, process scale-up, and operational excellence.

Reporting, Visualization & Insight Generation

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports that provide real-time views into key performance indicators (KPIs), experimental progress, and equipment performance.
  • Summarize findings in a clear, actionable format for technical and leadership teams.
  • Enable cross-functional understanding of complex data through clear visualizations and compelling narratives.

Data Governance & Best Practices

  • Define and promote data standards related to data quality, integrity, structure, and accessibility.
  • Partner with IT and internal stakeholders to ensure data capture practices support traceability and reproducibility.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a bridge between scientists, engineers, operators, and IT, ensuring that both business and scientific needs are accurately reflected in system capabilities.
  • Foster a data-literate, insight-driven culture at the Innovation Center through training, standards development, collaboration, and process design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, applied data science, or data architecture in biotech, manufacturing, or industrial R&D settings.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or similar languages for data analysis and modeling.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience building dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with scientific and operational systems such as LIMS, ELNs, MES, SCADA, and ERP.
  • Familiarity with collaborative work alongside IT teams on system implementations or large-scale data infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights that inform strategic and operational decisions.
  • Strong scientific foundation with a data-driven mindset and a proven track record of deriving insights from experimental and operational data.
  • Willingness to learn hands-on with production and scientific teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of physical work flows
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, balancing analytical depth with practical implementation to drive results.
